One thing I love about this animatic is how it shows Eliza's upset and anger not only for Phillip dying but because of Alexander's affair. She doesn't just instantly forgive him because of their shared grief, she's hurt and even though she tries, she can't just instantly forgive him because she's still not over what he did.
Fun fact just in case you didn’t know: though you included Philip’s tombstone in your animatic, he did not have one. When you died in duels, you didn’t get a tombstone, Alexander Hamilton only got one because he contributed so much
Fun fact: For a long time, Lin struggled with writing this song, because he had never experienced a grief so unimaginable. Then he realized that the perfect theme for the song was just that-how unimaginable it is to lose one's own child. He knew how to write the rest of the song as soon as he came across the line "there are moments that the words don't reach".
Hey guys I just thought of this thing that makes this 100000x more sadder. So, Eliza probably forgave hamilton after about a year of ignoring him. Side thingy ma jiggy, the reason because she was sad in 'Blow us all away' is because her sister Peggy had died around 7-8 months prior to these events. And due to the position in Alexander's job, she barely saw him as much as she used to when they were younger. So 3 years later, she had to face the fact that Alex got shot and had to watch the man she had learned to love again after so many heartbreaks, die in her arms. IT GETS BETTER During her last years, she started having memory loss and was on the bridge on forgetting husband because of her short term memory loss that she had developed over the years.
actually, i think despite Eliza growing older, she never actually forgot Alex. She always remembered him perfectly despite her old age, even often referring to him as "My Hamilton" and always wearing a necklace he once gave her

The fact that Eliza and Alexander went through so much and she still forgave him is incredible. First, she finds out that he cheated on her for about a year in a very public way, her sister dies, her son dies and I'm sure that Alex told her what his part was in that. But she still forgave him because she loved him. That part never fails to make me cry.

The fact according to this animatic Alexander had her ring on him constantly is adorable (even though you probably didn’t think about that before had. Alexander repeating the lines she told him is everything. “She takes his hand it’s quiet uptown” is everything. I’m not okay 😭
1:34 That totally got me because I just remembered that in Dear Theodosia, one lyric is "You knock me out I fall apart" (And the song was about Philip and another girl Theodosia)
STORY TIME ok so my mom walked in asking why i was crying and i responded with " **sobbing heavily** Eliza a-and **gibberish in a sad tone** Phillip and then they **starts sobbing again** and she still forgave him! **starts crying again" *its hard talking while crying*

I love how she shows the beauty of forgiveness. Even after all of that crap she stayed by his side and the fact that HE USED THE SAME WORDS AS THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH it’s been a lot of years and the scene of him collapsing out of relief of her forgiving him shattered me to PIECES he seems so regretful of everything and I love how he for the first time ever followed Eliza’s advice and took a break and when he finally did that she could bring it in herself to forgive him I’m still not over the falling to his knees I wish that they did that in the play my heart is dying this is an amazing song I can’t
You do realize that Maria was abused by her husband & was either forced to do it or that was the only way she knew how to thank due to James Reynolds right? Though it was wrong of her,I don't think she wanted to do it.
Gabriella Ince That was the only way she knew how to repay people due to her crappy husband James Reynold and I believe when he found out he wanted her to keep doing it and he used their daughter Susan, the only thing that Maria Reynolds was living for as bait and said he’d beat Susan if she didn’t. She was married to him at 15 with little to no education, he basically beat her into submission which made her easy to manipulate. She unlike Alexander couldn’t say no while he had a choice. Yet, she got out of the marriage with her lawyer being non other than Aaron Burr, and if I am correct he beat both her and Susan but I guess he threatened to beat her more? Hope this helped lol I pity Maria so much because she didn’t have choices for anything in her life. She was remarried twice after him and Susan was a great girl quite nice and quiet.

Can't take it anymore. I've been binge watching hamilton animated scenes this past few days. And it's so hard to take it out on my system. I badly want to see Lin-Manuel Miranda and gave thanks to him for creating this one.

i love this!! but the only thing i don't like is 2:23 Maria Reynolds is definitely misunderstood. Why is she the demon when Alexander was the one who couldn't say no? Maria was abused by her husband and I think the reason why she did not want Alexander to leave is because she finally felt loved for the first time. We have different opinions, and this is mine. Soooooo, y'all are free to state yours edit: also, Maria definitely felt sorry for Alexander and Eliza at that time. James blackmailed Alexander and Maria told Alexander to just pay him so that Alexander can stay with her and for Alexander to also not loose his fame and dignity. And when Alexander released the pamphlet, I think that Maria also felt apologetic to Eliza.
Historical records are very scarce as to whether Reynolds actually beat his wife, or if it was just a lie to soften Hamilton. She also lied about having left James, which aside from being despicable on its own, opens the door for the possibility of more dishonesty occurring.
I read it as "It's Quite Updog." And immediately thought about this Hamilfan comic I saw that was like: Eliza: How was your day, Alexander? Hamilton: Fine, but it was quite updog. Eliza: What's updog? Hamilton: Nothing, what's up with you? Herc and Laff in the corner: OHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
The thing about this is that Alex was already no doubt terrified about his loved ones dying or leaving (His cousin, his mother, his father, his brother and basically everyone in Nevis) and that was made worse by being in the revolution and his relationship with Laurens, who wasn't responding to his letters before he died. He most definitely suffered from PTSD, and seeing Eliza reject him and his son dying in front of him broke him down so much that he must have been on the brink
