The beautiful classical piece, Nocturne Op.9 No.2 written in e flat by Frédéric Chopin but it's raining outside. Thank you to those of you who requested it, this was a fun one to make.
Leave your suggestions for other songs you'd like to see in the comments below. I really enjoy making the ones where it sounds like they're in another room, but if you have other ideas, let me know too. Subscribe to the channel for more relaxing sleep/study music.
be present, stay safe!
just stop thinking is a channel dedicated to providing music and entertainment to help you calm your overactive mind. We believe that, sometimes, the best thing that we can do is switch off our brains, take a deep breath, live in the moment and just stop thinking.

Something I really love about this song is that it has a different feeling to everyone who hears. Some people will hear emotions of sadness and loneliness, while others hear calmness and serenity, if only for a brief moment, while yet others hear a deep, intense longing for someone or something. Personally this songs captures the emotion of longing for something that is so distant and far away it feels unreachable. It's a sort of bittersweet feeling, where you are so in love with this one thing but it is so far away. You can reach out for it, but it slips through your fingers. But you are so in love with it that you cannot help but imagine you will reach it one day.

lena sighed, sitting at her dining table, grasping onto a glass of red wine she didn't even intend to drink. it was the metaphor of it that counted, that she held the thing that could drown out her sorrows, but she wouldn't actually drink it. as much as lena wanted to, she could never be the type to run away from her problems, she always had to face them head on, no matter how much it hurt, no matter how much she tried to escape confrontation. and tonight was particularly difficult. she dumped the glass of wine into the sink, leaving the glass in it. she threw herself onto her velvet sofa dramatically, her eyeliner smudged all below her eyes. as she wallowed, she started to hear faint piano playing. she raised an eyebrow, sitting up. she eventually made her way to the wall, pressing her ear against it. the playing got progressively louder, and she could practically feel the sadness emitting from the instrument. once the song had ended, the person took a pause, but started to play it again. and again. and again, each time more and more grief-ridden. she was touched by the beautiful playing and emotion behind it, but concerned too. she wandered back into the kitchen, grabbed her bottle of wine, and left the room to knock on the stranger's door. she was aware of her eyeliner being smudged and her hair being frizzy, but for once in her life, she didn't care. if anything, she knew that this person would get it. she knocked on the door lightly, having waited until the song was over, at least. the playing stopped, and she heard footsteps coming towards the door. a young man, probably around the same age as her, opened the door. it was clear he had been crying, too. "hi, i know this is very sudden," lena said in between sniffles. "but i live next door, i just moved in about two weeks ago. i could hear your playing and it sounded so amazing...but are you okay?" she laughed lightly, wiping a tear away. his lips managed to curl into a small smile. "i think you know the answer to that. and i'd ask you the same thing, but..." she giggled, rolling her eyes playfully. "may i come in?" "at least tell me your name first?" "lena silvers. and yourself?" "alan lexington." "wow! prestigious, i like it." she smirked playfully. now he was the one to roll his eyes playfully. "come on in, lena silvers. let's drown our sorrows in music, instead of wine." "i don't even drink this wine," lena admitted as she walked inside, closing the door behind her. "it's a metaphor, see. you pour in the thing that could kill you and make you so dependent, but you don't actually give it the power to do that." "isn't that from /the fault in our stars/?" alan raised an eyebrow teasingly. lena blushed. "they are similar, yes. but i came up with this metaphor before that novel was released." "hmm," alan hummed, returning to sit at his piano. "may i?" she asked, pointing to the empty spot next to him on the bench. he merely nodded. once she had sat down, he began playing the same piece again, but a bit slower at first this time. this was the most melancholy rendition of it she had heard him play. he couldn't even get through the piece fully this time. he stopped halfway through, his hands frozen on one of the keys. tears started streaming down his face. "what's wrong, alan?" lena asked worriedly, looking over at him. sure, she had only known this man for about ten minutes, but she found herself already caring for him and enjoying his company. "i'm just so alone," he finally said after he managed to compose himself. well, for the most part. "i spiraled into this deep, dark hole of depression and after a few years, my friends didn't want to wait for me to crawl out if it anymore. and my family is so dysfunctional already...i feel so much and yet nothing at all." "well, alan, it appears that you and i are going through the same thing. i would so drink to that if i drank wine," lena joked. alan cracked a small smile. "you aren't alone anymore, okay?" lena assured him. "i just moved here two weeks ago to pursue my dreams, and i'm terrified. this is a /big/ city, and i'm out here all alone...my parents and friends just /loved/ to try and tear me down. but i made it. but i'm alone. and what's the use if i can't share this journey with anyone else?" "you aren't alone anymore, either," alan told her, smiling softly. he gently wiped a tear away on her face with his thumb. "i know how scary that can feel. but you'll make friends, and you just made one. if you'll have me, of course." "will you teach me to play the piano?" "of course."

Right now, I am alone in the university library. I am always one of the few who care to visit. The evening has fallen. I feel like this place is mine, the books and the dangling lamps that shine a soft yellow light over my tired face. I am writing stories and traveling off to distant shores in my mind. The big windows show the little people inside the school walking past, some see me and smile, others don't. The trees outside sway gently in the sugary spring breeze. I take a deep breath, how beautiful everything can be.

Pov: you’re on a walk through town at 9pm, as you cross the sidewalk, you spot a quiet little bookstore, full of colorful books, you step inside as the bell on the door rings; a kind young lady greets you, you think to yourself, “ah this will be a nice escape from my thoughts.” You start to look around, aisles upon aisles of books, as you walk to the back of the store you start to realize it’s definitely not as small as you thought it was. You come across a small room; the door is slightly open as if someone forgot to close it.. you secretly glance through the small opening in the door, shocked you see positions, and crystals. Spellbooks are scattered across the floor. You look behind you to see the young woman glaring at you, frightened you start to explain yourself, she stops you, looks around, and closes the door quickly. She whispers in your ear, “do not tell anyone about this room, ok?” You briskly nod your head. She then begins to ask you if you’ve found anything you’d like to purchase, skipping the subject as if nothing happened. You buy a book on witchcraft, and walk home in the pouring rain, with more thoughts than you had going into the bookstore.

I've adored your videos and love your contribution to my mental health, so I feel super bad making this comment, but the recording of the music in this one kind of hurts my ears? Something about the quality or the upright sound grates on me, not like in an elitist way, like in a "i'm autistic and have processing issues" way, I'm sorry. I'm sure you put a ton of work into these so I feel bad saying so, but if you could have this with like... Arthur Rubinstein's recording of it, or something just a little less crunchy, this would be 11/10 my favorite video on the internet. Chopin is my favorite composer and his Nocturnes mean a lot to me personally so I would so, so love to have them loop with your amazing ability to balance rain and music so nicely!! (Bonus suggestion: Nocturne Op. 72, No. 1 in E minor? It's maybe a little more somber but I won a Chopin competition playing it when I was younger and it still has a special place in my heart.) No matter what, thank you so much for all your work!

I'm sorry that this isn't the way you'd like it to be. I'll see if I can improve it, but I have to be careful about which recordings of the music I use because a lot of them are protected by copyright. If I make a new version but can't upload it to RU-vid, I'd be happy to send it to you directly. Thank you for your other suggestion.

I understand completely, and thank you so much for your kind reply! Please feel free to keep this on a back burner; I absolutely don't want to disrupt your work for my picky brain. I'm a patient lad, especially when it comes to work done out of the goodness of your heart. If you would like to contact me, my email is this username at gmail, but there is no pressure or rush to get to my request! 💖 Thank you, thank you, thank you again for your lovely mixes.

You should do it's raining and Dream Sweet in Sea Major is playing in the next room because your neighbor wants to escape to the end of the world where they don't have to care.
