13:03 To clarify for all the veiwers who don't play this game. The darkling is programmed to ALWAYS COUNTER STRIKES, even if the player controlling said darkling selects something different. Darkling combat is complex but not impossible. I'm about to go on a massive, essay sized tangent on how to deal with this games greatest threat. In the early game your only hope is simply to be somewhere else, and evade combat entirely. This is accomplished by using the vanish item or avoiding landing on towns and regular spaces. This keeps you from being engaged directly, or with the great and terrible "III Cartographo" dark arts skill. If you don't have any vanish, then you should also be inside a cave or other area that isn't the main map, as the "Come here" dark arts skill and/or magic tome can only target you if you're on the same map as its caster. Direct combat only becomes vaguely possible in the late game, and even then, the best endgame equipment is only enough to fight the darkling REGULARLY if you also use the magic medicine item witch doubles your stats temporarily. Otherwise, it can only be reliability slain by turning its own power against it. There are three paths of attack to consider. 1. Any darkling that has half a braincell or more will NEVER STRIKE, as countering is something everyone can do and will always kill darklings. 2. Giga blaze is actually part of a four way tie for second most powerful attack magic, along with Lectro beam, Ice barrage, and F5 tornado. The true mightiest magic is the light type spell, Aurora. Regardless, it is still direct attacking magic, so using the exceptionally rare bounce or super bounce defensive magics to reflect giga blaze back at them is great for dealing damage. Bounce can be purchased from the magic store on the second floor of the Tower of Rabble. (Along with Aurora, but I digress) But super bounce can only be won as a reward by matching 3 bar symbols on a 500,000G bet in the Casino, or stolen from, you guessed it, a darkling. 3. The darklings' regular attacks use the Draco blade, this is their safest option. But even the mightiest sword in the game can be turned against them with the right shield and a fair amount of luck. The Binder and Metal Guard shields have a chance to reflect the damage you would've taken back onto the attacker. The Binder can be found in the red loot spaces in Gunnbjorn (the small snowy region) or white loot spaces in the secret Castle in the Clouds. And the Metal Guard can be found in red loot spaces in the Underground Passage, as a random drop from a Golem (Flinder's Town Boss) or from (16:15) Gutz the Blacksmith. In conclusion, if by some miracle you succeed in slaying a darkling, you MUST take the darklings equipment, the overlords crown. It is objectively the mightiest item in the game. And the ability to summon monsters on opposing towns is frankly even stronger outside the darklings hands, allowing you to immediately enter combat with the summoned monster and basically steal the town.
