It's SUPER EXCITING opening one of the first Steam Decks off the factory floor 

What's bothering you on this unit? I ask because I wonder if it's the same thing that bothered me.

I’m also curious, what defect shall I look for? My deck arrives tomorrow..

@@angellg237 I'll say this, the deck you're seeing in this video is one of the first off the factory floor. The only plastic defect on that device was on the back. It was a little bit of.. almost like colour change or something in the plastic. Other than that I didn't have any issues with the device. My OLED is totally perfect. No issues at all with it. IMO it's the best version of the deck and everything is refined on it from what I experience with the original LCD version. Now that said, even newer LCD versions won't have any of the problems (I use the word problems loosely) the originals had.

@@JeremyKingTech I am thinking about getting a steam deck oled to replace my switch. Is the extra 100 dollars worth the 1 tb storage as compared to 512? Or should I just use a SD card? I have never tried PC gaming so I don’t know.

If you are going to spend the money for the money anyways, go for the 1tb model so that you don't have to upgrade later. The internal nvme drive is always going to be faster than loading games from the SD card. But yeah, it also depends on what games you'll be playing. Most Steam games will also run just fine from a good SD card. For my own use case, I have a 512gb OLED model and run Batocera for all emulation from the SD card. I haven't had any problems with space yet. But again, your decisions will have to be based on the types of games you want to play.

I only have hands on experience with the Steam Deck LCD and OLED. With that said, the new Ally release looks great. I don't think you'd go wrong in either case (but if you're getting a Steam Deck definitely go with the OLED). The new Ally's screen is higher resolution and higher refresh rate (120hz). For the price different between the non extreme and the extreme, I would personally save the 100 bones and go with the extreme. As for the Steam Deck it's more of a whole picture package thing for me. I enjoy what Valve is doing with the Steam Deck. It's not as powerful on paper but the OLED version is refined. I could say a lot more on it. Maybe I will in an upcoming video.

get steamdeck, screw windows crap os. Unless you dont want to configure for other game launchers get the steamdeck

@clark85 I'm coming from a switch oled, but the only reason I play it anymore is for zelda. I can care less about the windows interface, the simple layout of the steam deck seems more apealing to me honestly. Can the deck run games like god of war decently? I've been reading to many reviews and I don't know what information to take seriously and what not to lol.

@@KevinD-fr9sgits not about windows interface per say, Im just not a fan of windows OS and their annoying practices period. Do not like where its heading and would very much switch to linux when its a bit more practical to do and with steam os it is. For me handheld games running on a tiny screen it will look good most times. which god of war are you talking about, the one already on pc?

@@JeremyKingTech the normal non z1 is on sale for 399 at the moment. I was gonna get that or 256gb lcd with 1tb ssd. I only have 450 as a budget now, so those 2 were what I was looking at.
