I am very passionate about this country. I am 74. I have traced genealogy back to the early 1600's in England. We are also Scottish and Irish. I have ancestors who came to Jamestown. Have ancestors who fought in the Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. My Dad fought in WWII and my husband was a Cobra pilot in Vietnam. Our oldest son was in the first Iraqi war and our youngest son was a crew chief on Black Hawks during the second Iraqi war. We have a Grandson making a career in the Air Force now. We have a long long heritage of fighting for freedom for this country. You darn right I am passionate about it and so is my husband. So are out kids and our grandkids. This is why we need to take a step back and get back to the Constitution and our Founding principles. We are losing our Republic and all my ancestors didn't fight for our freedoms for nothing. Neither did my Dad, my husband, nor my sons. My heart breaks seeing what I am seeing today. That is one of the reasons we live close to the land and we are ready to defend our little piece of it if need be. Pray for our nation. Pray that we get Godly men and women back in the local governments, the state houses and the halls of Congress in DC. Pray that God will cover us with His protection from the powers that want to destroy us.

My great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee indian. Her name was Carey Porch. She died at age 25 but had my grandmother and my great aunt Johnsie. They sent to an orphanage my grandmother's name was Winnie Porch. My great aunt was two years old and was adopted but my grandmother was 5 and not adopted. She worked on farms for families for her keep when she was older. She married at 13 years old and had her first child at 14 years old. She used to tell us stories about her childhood and it would make me cry. I never knew my father so this is all I know about where I came from. People years ago lived hard liives compared to us.

Amen Patara.. I'm 80 years old and I love finding out about family and I encourage my children and grandchildren...My Grandpa, George Billy (Jur Bily) left home at 16, the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1881. He hired on to a sailing freighter in the Mediterainin and sailed around Africa to Madagascar ...India .. SE Asia..across the Pacific to Vancouver. He jumped ship there and found work in the Alberta area as a logger...worked for many years and then scooted down to Idaho...got a job working on the newly formed railroad and worked his way east...when he made it to NY/NJ he sent for his girl friend, my Grandma. She came to NJ and married him. He was a founder of the Lutheran Church I grew up attending..they had 14 children. My poor Grandma had her last baby when she was 48 years old, she must have been one tough lady. My Momma was #10 and helped to raise the younger ones... My Grandpa built and operated the water system for the town they settled in... Where would I be without my ancestors? You are so right about family. Thank you and God Bless.

I am an avid genealogist. I volunteer in a genealogical library once a week. i worked on a family for close to 30 years (off and on) but was at a brick wall, then one day I found something and it opened up so much more. My husband has lots of German ancestors, one particular family came over around 1760 and the father and 4 of his sons fought in the Revolutionary War. We are blessed to have such rich histories of people who came from different lands to make ME.

I understand completely, Patera! I have been researching my family for 20 years. I followed them in Church records (using microfisch machines) as they married, the baptisms of their own kids and found myself grieving as I looked through death records. Weird but true. Most came from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and fought the revolution and Civil War. I broke through similar brick walls and can share your excitement! We are who we desended from. Stay strong!

Patara, just a bit of info that might interest you. When the Prince of Orange came to the North of Ireland in 1689, he brought his battle hardened Dutch troops, but he also brought Hessian troops with him who had been part of his army in Europe against the French. It's just interesting that of all the Germans you could've been descended from, it turned out to be Hessians 🤔 I don't believe in coincidences!! Thanks for sharing your genealogy adventures, Patera. I got hooked on it in college when my Texas History professor assigned a 10-page genealogy research paper as a term project. I was fortunate enough to have several relatives who had started the research. Mother shared their research with me. My paper ended up being a 400 page book, and I was thoroughly addicted. I had found many of my ancestors in the history books as being among the founding fathers of Texas. The search began! Speaking of Texas - please keep us in your prayers.

I started researching my paternal family tree when I was 20 or so, when ancestry had just hit the internet. I can't research my Mother's as she was adopted in 1953 and I'm just not willing to send my DNA off to a lab. The information I found on my Father's side, such as our relation to John C. Hancock, inspired me to keep digging. I'm a mix of German & Irish from my Grandfather's side and from what I've found about my Grandmother's side so far is mostly Polish. It's been such a fascinating thing to learn about!

Ancestors also didn't have the benefit of the internet and in some cases even a printing press to find out where they were heading to, they made a decision to find a better life. in most cases the attrition rate on long ship journeys was 50%. They made decisions we can't comprehend in our modern world. Thank you for the video and take good care.

My sister-in-law has done an amazing job on our family's genealogy. She has gotten back into the 1400's on a couple of lines. We arrived here back in the early 1630's to the Massachusetts Bay Company. The other side got here in the early 1700's. I don't want to let them and everyone that followed, down. I have impressed this into my kids. They gave me and mine the opportunity to be here now. I want to give my future descendants the same chance.

My girls and I wish you the happiest of birthdays and many returns, Mama Patara! There is nothing like discovering a new member of the family. The knowledge is powerful, and so gratifying. Our ancestors sacrificed much for us; now we do the same for our children. Thank you for reminding us!

Ive been family treeing for 17 years, i took over from my dad who'd been doing it for 20 years. Its addicted! Ive got back to 1545 following a path of my dads family. Got a combo of Somerset and Welsh. My mothers side is Ulster, and theres very little information that survived the 1922 burning but ive got back to 1780

I just LOVE looking back on my family genealogy!! A cousin traced our line back to the mayflower and beyond and I often think of what ‘they’ all went through to make it possible for me to be here!!! It makes me think about the generations to come and what they will think of me in 6 or 7 generations!!!

Great story. My parents are both Immigrants from Germany. They came here on a ship also with my older sister when she was 2. In order for them to come here in the 50's They needed proof someone was going to support them before my dad got a job. No government hand outs then. Both my parents loved America and went to school to learn English right away it was required. Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Love this ancestry knowledge and I understand the rush from the seeds that come to fruition. I was adopted and figured out my birth name from a Sunday school book given to me in my first foster home. Found my birth family and have done some genealogy research as well as DNA. I have almost all nations present in this body of mine. Mostly, Irish, Irish Scottish (Ulster), German, and Cheyenne. I was able with the grace of God and remembering how tough my ancestors were to plug forward when life seemed to much to bear. I bought a homestead and the pantry is stocked. I feel very connected to the USA, especially the wild west and the deep South. Love your channel like u r a sister.

My grandmother's family are the Miller's from Tellico Plains. Her mother was a Cherokee. Her maiden name was Hartness. Are you related or acquainted with any of these folks. Their ancestry goes back to Robert de Bruce, King of Scots.

I found out two weeks ago that I’m a Son of a Confederate Volunteer. My Great great grandfather was a Private in the 5th South Carolina Calvary. I’m still working on my genealogy and looking for a relative that was in the revolutionary war.

My 7x Great Grandfather was in the Revolutionary War in the SC Militia. He's buried in South Carolina I believe in Shoals. I was surprised to hear that he was murdered by the Tories and Indians. I have also found relatives who fought for both sides of The Civil War.

My husband's great great great grandfather came over on a ship from England to Australia & it took a full year to get here! He wrote a book which my hubby managed to get a first print of. I feel your excitement, so glad you shared this with us. Thank you!! I worked on my ancestry last year, while caring for my husband who recently died from Alzheimer’s. My paternal grandma was German but we were never told, and I’m so excited to find out more. And, the cemetery where my moms people are buried, was started by Larkin McGhee, who was a scout on the trail of tears, but he and his brothers married some of the Cherokee women and that’s where my family came from. I love hearing about your ancestry, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, eat a piece of cake for me!! Yes, we have to depend on God, and I ask that He bless your ancestry journey!!!!
