Something to keep in mind with regards to the results for Simon of Wille's speech: Simon's mum said at the court hearing that since the Prince's speech, pride flags are being burnt in their town and Simon has been receiving hate mail and late night threatening phone calls. That is already, even before this season starts, a pretty great consequence to Simon and his family's safety. People know where they live and how to reach them. If anything we know about Simon, it's how protective he is of his family. He doesn’t have the security that Wille has if Wille gets threatening mail or comments on social media, and it's just him and his mum at home. So, to me, he is trying to do damage control on his social media and public perception, for safety reasons. Also, as to public perception: people hating on the Prince in comments and the press won't really affect his family's reputation - the Royal Family is high status and nationally loved. Simon getting hate affects his reputation and his future prospects. He has no positive family reputation to support him. I know it is naive of him to think he can affect what people think of him, but I understand his instinct to have the right to reply to defamation of his character. What else can he do to protect himself and his family?
the way i didn't even think about simon reacting this way for safety reasons. that makes soooo much sense! "damage control" is a good way to describe it. he's also still an actual child, so there's that too 🤣 i need to give him more grace lmao
Hi! Loved your comment and wanted to share my own thoughts. First of all, I think it's crazy that the Royal Court didn't assign a PR person and additional body guards to Simon's family. In my eyes, this was done on person. The Court knows how bad the public can get, yet they assigned Wille (a child) to give Simon the low down. Like, WHAT?! I think the Court was hoping that Simon would crack under the pressure and break up with Wille. Second of all- Wille should have talked with Simon before he made that speech. I understand it was impulsive and the gesture was sweet. HOWEVER, this is not what the two of them discuss. Going public meant holding hands at school, kissing without hiding, etc. Their relationship might have been leaked to the public by a student, but as we seen, the student body didn't like acknowledging that Wille was with Simon. Now Simon is thrust on to the world stage without being prepared. That's not fair to him.
Regarding Simon wearing purple, the color purple is associated with royalty and according to the costume designer of YR it represents Simon's love for Wille.
Hi ladies. I already said this in another comment, but I wanted to create my own. I 100% agree with Simon- Wille should have given him a heads up about his speech. I understand he did it on impulse and the gesture was really sweet. HOWEVER COMMA Wille admitted to his relationship with Simon RIGHT AFTER Simon agreed about keeping their relationship discreet. Wille's announcement wasn't what they agreed on. And on top of that, the message heard by the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Simon had absolutely zero time to emotionally and mentally prepare for this. And as you can see, he and his family aren't getting any press training or security from the Royal Court. In fact, they have to rely on Wille (who is also a child and is use to this type of environment) to give them the low down.
"fun" fact: The messages and comments that Simon receives via social media this season are partly taken from real comments that the actors (and especially Omar) received during the run of the show. Lisa revealed this in several interviews...
Yes the whole of YR takes place during one schoolyear. S1 is September till mid December, S2 is January till March, S3 is April till June. Erik died in November, so in S3 Ep 1 it's been 5 months since his death.
I'm not an expert but I think we have a different like culture or whatever in Sweden, when it comes to settlements and paying damages and that kind of stuff, I think the standard for that is way higher in the US. Like related to how different counties have like different culture for how letigious it's common to be/the system requires you to be. I'm not sure but I do think it's considered more money in this context here that it would in the US, even though we have a high cost of living. (It could definitely be enough for a down payment on a house in most areas of the country.) So happy to see you guys reaction to season 3, have loved every video!! 🥰

The comments being made to the media were from alumni. Also isn't it just as illegal to buy drugs in Sweden as it is to sell? If so why would they report Simon; since August was buying the drugs?
ohhhhhhhhhh good point 👀👀 maybe they didn't have proof that august bought the drugs from simon-- they only had proof that simon stole them from his dad (because of the name on the bottle).
