The neighboring department to ours just got a brand new 2019 Pierce Arrow XT Ascendant 102 foot tiller that was delivered in october and placed in service in Feburary ! It's a beautiful machine and really stands out, everyone everywhere loves it, hope to catch it soon !
Craig Mariengallieo. Ciao Paisano from Sicily. How ya doin? I will take a tiller over a tower or a rear mount anytime. I still remember many years in Washington D.C. , New York City and Los Angeles seeing the tiller trucks responding and getting around those tight streets with no problem. God Bless.
@@davidfrehlini5052 Ciao my friend. Yes i agree i will take a Tiller any day. I Remember my first couple of time training.. my mind wanted to go the way the tractor went lol then when i would get in my car the first few time i would get messed up all over again Ha. but i gotta tell ya nothing better than bouncing along back there... we use to use the Suicide Knob on the wheel back then.. I see alot of tiller guys not using them anymore i always thought i had more control with it but to each his own. Being old now i would still like to just one more time drive a tiller even if its around a parking lot just to see if i still got it... Be safe David. Craig
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 I appreciate it John , Thank You ! I hope your doing ok too during this crazy pandemic , I can't wait until it's all over & everything's back to normal instead of the Twilight Zone that were in right now ! 😁
THEMAJESTIRIUM1. Thank you very much for posting this video. These tiller trucks are the best. They beat those towers and rear mounts any time. God Bless.
I agree scott those guys in FDNY they are the Best... Ive seen some of JJ's Tiller footage Damn those guys have some serious Tight and i mean Tight Spots.
Craig Mariengellieo Great point sir..I got lost in the late seventy’s with a 48 ft dump trailer full frame and in the middle of manhattan where my delivery was supposed to be to long story short......Total night mare. Never again
Always liked tiller trucks. Would run after Chelsea, Mass. Tiller truck when it went by the house. A couple of times. My babysitter or her boyfriend would have to hase my down. My dad got it so did my older brother. They would take down to the fire station and look @ the trucks. Got to sit in the tiller truck a couple of times.
The Tillers seem to have a character all their own! It is hard not to give a personality to each one. Especially when they howl in the language of their species!! 😆👍🏼😃🚨🚒
david frehlini oh yes and it’s still their slogan when my uncle was assigned there in the mid 1980s I remember he brought me a toy tiller fire model for Christmas and had a coworker to put the slogan and logo on it. I still have it today!!!
On the west coast I see a lot of two axle hook and ladders. I believe all of FDNY hook and ladders are single axle. Is one better than the other. As a firefighter I never worked on a hook and ladder.
Alot of it has to do with weight . Alot of West coast companies have a pump on the tractor as well and also bridge and road weight limits , more axles spreads the load . The single rear axle makes for a little better turning
It surprices me they dont just start blaring the sirens and horns as they come out, in my city they're going to blast horns and even ram you out of the away if theres an emergency, especially if its a legit fire call. If you hear a fire truck honking at you, get out of the way!
Is FDNY moving to tillers, last time I visited NYC they had all straight 3 axl ladder trucks. Back on the west coast all we have is tillers for ladder trucks
Uh-oh! Here comes "The Chinatown Dragon!" It wouldn't surprise me if certain idiots today would think that's racist instead of an example of area pride.
gaming kid I live in New Orleans, and the ambulances for New Orleans EMS all have those sirens too. The ambulances themselves even look menacing with the caution stripe on the font bumper, and the utility style bumper.
