A Blu Ray Sampler would be nice with Duet, Defiant, In The Pale Moonlight, Inter Arma Eneim Silent Leges so we can see pieces of Voyager in it too!

DS9 is easily the best Star Trek show ever made. It's perfect from start to end. No a single bad episode.

original series and tng were flmed on film stock. its easy to prep that for 4k. The technology didnt exist until recently to do this for DS9. That series was recorded on digital media at a time when high definition wasn't a thing. New AI upscaling and frame generation tech can totally fix this.

In the case of Voyager, the issue is all the CGI. It was rendered in 480p and there just isn’t any more detail to scan. And the old models often don’t work on new programs, so you’d have to recreate sophisticated shots from scratch. And since Voyager wasn’t that popular, not much money would be made on new releases, so taking a loss would be very likely.

Paramount has plenty of money. They can redo the CGI in Voyager for a re-release if they really wanted to. Thanks for the comment!

There are enough people with passion to recreate the CGI

Preserve 4:3 aspect ratio. Scan negatives. Recreate certain VFX shots when needed. Upscale any shots that involve space. Boom, problem solved. Do a slightly better remaster than Babylon 5 did, and use Topaz, the Okudas and a VFX studio for that, any VFX that has live actors on a greenscreen or with a CG creature, or with any CG FX and a live actor, remake the FX, anything in space or that is entirely CG, simply upscale. Scan footage, have an AI reassemble footage based on master tapes, have a human operator/editor put in what the AI couldn't detect if anything...(X-files was done in two years doing this, thanks to Netflix, and that was in 2014.) It's not ideal, but it would get both shows done in a very affordable way. Still sucks, but it's the best we can hope for. You could probably trim 25%-30% off of the grand treatment that TNG got, and preserve both shows. Perhaps use some of that saved money to actually cut a negative per episode that way if there is a future remaster things can be done even better. Mo Henry that shit, so archivists don't have to scramble later on. If fans want a box set, charge them a premium with an on demand bluray service per season. They wait 3 weeks to get each season at something like $59.99, while the ones who'd just want to stream it do it that way, and recoup the costs. This isn't difficult, it's maximizing profit. Paramount+ needs to be in a competitive position, and I'd argue more people are interested in legacy content made by producers, writers and artists that weren't corporate castrated like they are today. So far, Legacy Trek and South Park, and Spongebob is all Paramount has going for it. Halo is shit, New Trek has some potential, but the Execs at Paramount lack taste...No one cares about "Tell Me a Story", "The Good Fight" or "Evil", as much as I love Micheal Emerson, Paramount needs better content, from people that have taste. You're competing with HBO, Amazon, Sony and Disney, not a suburban retirement home. I know my position is ironic, considering...you know, legacy content is what would fuel such a retirement home. However, there is an ever growing crowd of people who like retro shit, and I'd simply repackage it, and show them that. HD Walker Texas Ranger. HD Legacy Trek. HD Western Series that's legacy. HD sitcoms. Perhaps even Craig Ferguson and Letterman content. I'd cut the current Colbert shit, it's not funny. Center the Daily Show, as Stewart still has swagger. Meanwhile, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, and the Evening News Stream (This one uninterrupted by ads) could balance the network, since women like crime docs. After that, I'd look for things that are unique and not cookie cutter. Everything modern Paramount does feels cookie cutter and generic. It's not fun to watch, and feels like a studio demonstration more than having a unique style of cinematography. You need people to scout media, that's a corporate position that would solve some problems. I'd keep Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds. Then I'd talk with people like Todd MacFarlane, perhaps give Hellspawn a live action series of his own, like HBO did in the good ol' days. Image Comics has a fuckton of properties that could draw in an audience, so long as the idiots at Paramount can see what people want, and not what the beige cookie cutter Burb walkers prefer. I'd look at indie comics, and film makers with passion projects. Hell, perhaps invite David Lynch in to make Ronnie Rocket, or any of his passion projects, he's 77, we need more lynch, you'd get that start, and write Lynch a blank check, that would put the screws to Netflix and actually get Paramount somewhere.

Ive only watched a lot of deep space nine once and would definitely go back and watch it all. Voyager on the other hand is probably the most rewatchable shows ever. Yes it has Seven but it was also light hearted and fun. Frankly for me it was when Star Trek peaked. There i said it.

I also have started to upscale with good AI and it looks way better then the original DVDs but have by far not the sharpness of a real HD or 4K release.

They made a loss on the TNG Blu ray release. They must have made that money back by now from streaming TNG and from producing New Trek material. I say they should do it. But do it slowly maybe and only make it available for streaming. They could save money by either only making it available in HD on Streaming and or they could release it on Blu ray in one Country. That country been Japan since that format does the best there. Perhaps then when they get their investment money back they can release it in all countries. But yes absolutely both Shows should be remastered now.

Hmm, interesting. I didn’t know it initially lost money. Like you said, even if they do it just for streaming, it’d be worth it. Thanks for the comment!

@@bcvideos_ No Problem, it's also worth noting that The Next Generation had to be put through a Second Post Production for the HD Remaster due to how it was produced while the show is running. The same would have to be done with DS9 & Voy. In fact it would take longer because of all the CGI they used in those shows.

If it's about money, I bet you could find a group of people who will make it for free (controlled by some paramount officials) as a passion project. I guess that's not the way how Paramount is willing to handle it.
