A clean start! I’ll be excited to see what you plant there! More hydroponic videos please :)

I was really wanting a hydroponic garden until I watched this video...OMG 🤣 I'm going to have to think about it more as I hate projects like this. But thank you for sharing this valuable information. xox

It’s a task for sure but it is not a constant thing. The amount of food you can grow makes it totally worth it for me!

I've been getting more into the idea of hydroponic gardening. I struggle with video's that require such an in-depth cleaning as the rise. It's not going to go well in my condo (family of 4 in 800sqft). I'd like point you in another direction worth exploring. It's a company called Just Vertical (located in Toronto, Canada). They have product called the Aeva & Eve. They are efficient & simple to use. They are a newer company that started in 2017. It can be harder to find reviews/content on their products (unlike the rise, gardyn, click & grow, etc...). I've spoken to consumers, various companies that carry their product, interviews, read their website/watched videos. The feedback has been consistent & where there was some concern was back in 2020. As time has progressed those concerns have been addressed. If you have any questions leave a response. I struggled with the validity of the company. In the 4th quarter of 2021 they signed on a deal with Arlene Dickinson (renowned Canadian independent marketing entrepreneurs). Seeing this gave me more faith in the company.

@@The_IndoorGardener quick question : did you need at the end of the cleaning to use your app to restart your pump? I had to do it, but it was not mentionned, I think in your video or the one Rise put online. Thanks!

The Rise Garden does seem to take more time and effort compared to some of the other brands. I noticed the Gardyn 2.0 (and I think the 1.0) can go into the dishwasher (not sure I would do that if I owned one though). I have only AeroGardens and I actually bought the cleaning product AeroGarden sells (the no rinse cleaner) along with some backup pumps and filters (just in case). The Rise Garden looks nice but boy oh boy I'm not sure I'd want to have to do that cleaning on it every 4-5 months. Great video either way as it lets us all know the pros and cons of each hydroponic unit on the market. Thanks so much!

Thanks Chad! I am planning a comparison video between the AeroGarden Farm and the Family Rise Garden. I can't wait to get my hands on one of the Garden 2.0 but unfortunately they don't ship to Canada yet! Not sure I would want to put it in the dishwasher even if I could, I would worry about soap residue which is not good for wee plant babies!

Thanks for your video. It was very informative. I have been reading reviews of various hydroponic gardening set-ups and trying to select which system be a good fit for me. The reviews I have seen in videos and in articles discuss basic pros/cons, set-ups, associated apps, sprouting, harvesting, and memberships, but don't discuss the "reset" maintenance involved in the gardens. It is helpful to see what aspects of cleaning can be the most difficult. The only suggestion I would make is that it would be great if you could specify how long the deep cleaning process takes, since you had many tasks that you completed off-camera. Thanks again and happy gardening!

A little scalding-hot water helps to soften and expand those vinyl hoses when you are trying to get them off the pump.

Hi Kiri, thank you for your awesome videos, I enjoy them very much :)) . I had to clean my Rise Garden and found the most useful tool at Canadian Tire. It is a small drain snake with a brush at the end, around 5 feet of cable and fits wonderfully in the black tubing and also on that big transparent tube that goes in the water tank. It costs 6$ here in Quebec. Just thought i’d share 😉

OMG Claudine THANK YOU! That is awesome to know. I had some in my Amazon cart but wasn't sure if they would work. I will see if I can snag the same one you got from Crappy Tire 😜 I'm glad you are finding my videos helpful, if you have any suggestions for future one let me know!

@@The_IndoorGardener ok, I have a question that maybe you could help me with as I cant find it addressed anywhere! I put my first sprouted seedlings into the rise garden but am wondering if you are supposed to thin down to one seedling as many sprouted or do you leave them all?
@The_IndoorGardener
@The_IndoorGardener Год назад
@@AliciaBlaze Hi Alicia, My answer would depend on the type of seedlings they are. Some things are better thinned and a few I don’t thin. What are you growing?

@@The_IndoorGardener so far i have a tomato (2 came up in one pod) Lettuce (5 came up in the pod) chive 8 (will keep all of these i think) Parsley (2)
@The_IndoorGardener
@The_IndoorGardener Год назад
@@AliciaBlaze Hi Alicia, The tomato and lettuce I would definitely thin to one plant per pod. The chives should be fine, those things can grow just about anywhere in any condition LOL. The parsley I would probably thin, but in truth I haven’t grown that one much hydroponically… I would just say don’t stress out about it too much as it takes the fun out of it. The plants will grow even if you don’t thin them. They will however grow better if you DO thin them! It’s all a learning experience. I don’t think my radishes or beets as I find they grow better when multi-sown. Hope that helps!

Hi Melissa, I’m working on one! I am running an experiment using my two Aerogarden sprouts so I can see if there are any effects (good or bad) from root trimming. The plants are still little BUT it IS coming! Also some videos on what water to use, water testing and pH levels!
