I so love hydrangeas, fresh and dry! I always learn something from you Miss Danielle, thank you! I hope you'll show us how to make those lambs ear ornaments!
Danelle, use bird netting to cover the bed. We have lots of squirrels, birds and chipmunks in our yard and in order for me to keep them out of my sowed seeds beds, bird netting is a must. It's super simple, just lay the netting over the top(let it hang over a bit) and hold it in place with tall plant support stakes. You can adjust the netting as the seedlings grow, if needed. And then roll it up early spring and reuse for the next season. I've been doing this for years on my raised beds with success(and absolutely no accidental entanglements). Even the raccoons stay away from the netted beds! Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed the tutorial!
I had no idea so many flowers dried well! I had a bee just like your monarch but I brought it in the house because I thought it was dead...but it's legs started moving! So I put him back outside
Yes on 3 dried flower trees! 👏🏻👍🏻 so excited to see them! I’m getting ready to harvest the last of my things for drying as well. Such a fun time of year!
Your garden is still so beautiful. I’m looking forward seeing your dried flowers and Xmas trees. I have learned so much from you this season. My garden is very much expanding in size and variety thanks to your tips.
Wow i havw got to grow Mexican bush Sage next year! Looks like its color out lasts blue Victoria Salvia this tims of year. That Jewels of Opar is so pretty and Christmasy
I love your channel. I'm sitting here making dried flower wreaths while I watch your videos. I still have to search back to some of your videos to see this dried flower Christmas tree you speak of cuz I'm going to have to make one❤❤❤❤😂
Would you happen to have video of you making the lambs ear ornament or any of the other things you make, like the bird feeder type things? Your channel is one of the ones I look forward to!
I started drying flowers a few weeks ago, the hydrangeas and Celosia have dried so nicely. Have more to harvest this week. I can't wait to see you Christmas trees!!
How beautiful this season is gor your garden. If only it could stay like this all fall. Im interested to see more of how you dry certain different flowers. When i pick celosia seeds go everywhere and it turns brown.
There are still such beautiful flowers this time of year, right before the frost. Your garden is looking amazing! Thanks so much for the pre rain tour! 🌸🌸🌸🌿🌿🍁🍁🍁💕
Beautiful flowers, love your garden at all times of the year! I'm really looking forward to seeing all the dried flower Christmas trees, especially the cardinal one since they are my favorite bird. And of course, it's always a joy to see Grace make an appearance. 😀💖👍
As a monarch raiser for years I'd recommend bringing her in for several hours... warm her up good and release her. I'm probably too late for the advise this time... but some warmth will give her a good jump start to get moving south ❤
Your garden is just so beautiful and you are a wealth of knowledge. I always make sure to watch your new videos at least twice to absorb all the advice. Also LOVED the outro with Gracie! You should feature her in EVERY video!
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm I didn't either! very fairy like~ check out the first few seconds of my latest vlog at Chanticleer, you will see a close-up of it!
Hi Gracie!! Wow look at everything to it's fullest!! Just gorgeous 😍 oh the bees are just sleeping!! They will go in if it's to cold because trust me I was so stressed out lol I'd check on them in the morning and yup there alive! I gave them sugar water in a dropper it gives them a boost of energy. That's what Google says to do when you see a bee sleeping on the flower when it's cold out at nite! butterfm
As much as I could find online and remember school studies, the butterfly was okay, otherwise it couldn't hold on, in that half upside-down position, just went into dormancy. 😊 Greetings, Judit
Your garden looks amazing for late Oct Danielle. Was sad to see the Monarch - I saw my first 2 this morning here in my NZ garden which is also humming with bees all over the phacelia and poppies. I simply can't wait to see your Christmas trees! You are so talented and artistic. Thanks so much for all the drying information.
Really looking forward to seeing the Cardinal ornaments, sounds interesting. I noticed I have some new blooms on 2 of my mop head Hydrangeas, I'm zone 7, but honestly they should bump us to 8. Also expecting a ton of rain, seems like we all are over the coming days. If you had time to search what may be going on with the Monarch, please do tell, I've had bees I think drunk on the Hummingbird feeder.
Hi Kathy! I prefer to hang celosia to air dry. I'm open to any and all suggestions on how to create the cardinals! I think it will be a bit of trial and error.
I see you got garden statues, I love how they decorate the gardens . I got a few on my own garden too , I may need start making garden videos so I can show off them
Everything looks wonderful! I love the statue of Saint Francis in the garden. Perhaps that butterfly is stuck somehow you might want to go and investigate.💞
Great video. Is there a good way to propagate the Berggarten sage? I have one plant in my herb garden and really love it. It looks good all year. Your edging with the sage is stunning.
Hi Danielle, could you remind me what plant is at 4:32 burgundy maple leaf like leaves? You also have them behind the lavender. Thanks for bringing us along what will be one of the last hurrahs before the cold 🥶 weather arrives ! ❤️🍁🇨🇦
It's been so weirdly warm, I'm wondering if the monarch was fooled into lingering too long and now hasn't been stunned by the chillier weather? I have to say that this has to be one of the warmest falls that I can remember.
Rain coming this way too (CT). Will you be doing a Fall clean up video? This is my first year with Catmint and I'm not sure what to do with it. Enjoy the 🌧️🌧️🌧️
Hi Denise! I usually do most of my cleanup in the spring, but I do cut down anything diseased or that could harbor disease in the fall. That is part of my pollinator certification requirement-to leave as much of the garden cleanup for spring as possible. I cut my catmint back in the spring. But it is very tough and forgiving. If you prefer to cut it back now it will be no problem. I hope that helps!
Beautiful garden. Thank you for the information. What zone are you in? I would love to start some flowers in the fall. Do you have a video about that as well?
Ambush bugs! They’re camouflaged and hard to find but the eat our bees and butterflies by sucking them dry. They’re left dead sitting on the flowers. I started picking all the ambush bugs and putting them into a bucket of soapy water with the Japanese beetles. It’s heartbreaking!
Hi Everything is lovely! Danielle please help me. I’m so confused and new to all this. could you please tell me when you started your seedlings? Did you start them indoors? If so, when did you transplant them outdoors. Or did you start the seeds outdoors? And When? Tia
Hi Gayle! Here is a video I did about a month ago when I direct seeded and put out transplants. I direct seed some and start some indoors. It depends on the specific seeds needs. If you don't have the book "Cool Flowers" I would highly recommend purchasing it. It will tell you everything you need to know. I hope that helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YPZpLBFOfh0.html
Thanks you, i wish to find some mexican bush sage in canada! Question: I have a few dusty miller in my garden, they will be beautiful a few week with the frost. But should I cut a few to dry them? (Head down?)
I had a question about your big leaf hydrangeas. Do you ever have problems with them not blooming? Do you have any suggestions on how to make them bloom more. I have my suspicions that it might be not enough sun. Or maybe they need more fertilizer? Any suggestions would be very helpful thank you.
Hi Cindy! I try and cut selectively only from my mature ninebarks. Cut almost to thin out the plant rather than to shape it or prune it down. I hope that helps!
Hi Cynthia! I purchase a mother plant from a local nursery in late spring. Then I take cuttings to create more plants. They usually don't look like much that time of year, but here in 6b they need the whole growing season to flower. When we lived at our old house I did lose them once to an early frost. I'm hoping those from colder zones can share their experiences, and if they are able to bring them to flower in a shorter growing season.
Thanks Marlene. In the past I composted them after harvesting. I have never personally tried leaving them for a second year. However, I have an amish friend who has mulched them up with leaves and she said they same back. She mentioned it was on the south side of her house.
