There's so much hype surrounding the third shot drop in pickleball. Maybe it's warranted, but then again, maybe not. Regardless, I'm going to show you a few ways that you can improve this shot. Keep in mind that the video shown is for demonstration purposes! Things will look a bit different in a live game.

I was binging videos on this channel earlier today and then later, when I went to the wall that I like to bang against to practice, it was the "bored kid arms" that really clicked. I was also trying just using thumb and index finger to keep the paddle loose from another video and suddenly, the ball started going way, way faster. It made a crunching sound against the wall that I've never heard before and I was like... Yes! Pickelball kitchen guy from RU-vid! Seriously helpful, thank you.

I was wondering if you have any videos explaining all the ranking in pickleball because I've seen the GAP explanation but a more in-depth video would be great with some examples.

I really like that locked arm shoulder technique, especially the Hershey kiss illustration it’s a good way to remember how to swing, thank you for sharing. It was quite helpful.💪🏻

Nice presentation: energy, technique, and reconcilation with "reality" in the heat of the game.

Your pickleball forehand advice is right on point. As a former tennis player and high school coach, I have found shoulder and hip rotation very important as well as locking in your swing motion cause in pickleball, you have to be set in order to make an effective play on the ball. In tennis, this isn't necessarily true. You can hit on the run but it isn't as effective in pickleball. Locking in your swing certainly makes a difference.

Interesting, fwiw, I noticed that all but one of your examples were on the forehand, the one that was on the backhand you missed. The backhand side is where I noticed most of my issues are, so my takeaway from your video is that I need to run around my backhand.

Can you cover the backhand third shot drop specifically? Most of what I see is all about hitting a forehand

You’re the only one RU-vid who breaks everything down into bite size pieces of learning for those of us who’ve never played racquet sports. Plus the metaphors and imagery is spot on. I love your videos!

Looking for video for 3rd shot response (drop or drive) in response to those "blazing" 2nd shot returns :). Thanks for your work here.

Good video again. My question is what is your preferred paddle of choice? I am on my 4th paddle and still haven't found the right one. I have found the I prefer the longer handle as opposed to the shorter on.

Thanks. This is somewhat useful but, like most other instruction videos, the technique is focused on unreal received shots. I'd like to see how this is done facing a realistic opponent with faster, angled returns. Best wishes.

I understand what you're saying. The videos here are for demonstration purposes, however I hope to implement what you're saying soon. I'll actually be able to show real examples.

I think the footwork tip is the most important. Getting yourself into a good position is the foundation of a good shot. Which is unfortunate as it’s commonly overlooked by beginners.

For these type of shots I like to imagine I’m doing an underhand toss with a ball and the paddle is my hand.

Both feet planted helps. You should address how to drop a shot that has hard backspin coming at you

Love your explanations. My favourite pickleball tutor. Would it be possible to ditch the background music? Very distracting and not needed as you are so easy to listen to. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.

Seems like you have to not let the ball get close to you but reaching out keeps the elbow and wrisr straight.
