What's funny about the Homer joke saying it's "D'ohver" is that a recent episode did make a joke saying "When will it all end?!" while Homer is looking at a picture of his family, the picture is titled The Simpsons.

The vore in the final episode is meant to represent the Ouroboros (the snake that's eating it's own tail) because that's what The Simpsons became and has been for a long time.
2:11 the Simpsons literally already had an episode where Krusty is arrested for tax evasion. Episode 15 Season 7 “Bart the Fink” and it’s the episode that introduces fan favorite character Handsome Pete who dances for nickels. A pretty good episode actually.

The series finale of the Simpson already exists and its genuinely an amazing episode. Season 23, episode 9. Amazing episode, it perfectly wraps up the show.
The show's status quo is in a constant time warp, homer used to to be my dad, now he's a millennial like me. There was a recent episode that pictured homer as a kid in the 90's that gave me weird feelings.

I will say, my friends and I watched a newer Simpsons that contained the line, "forget it, man, it's chili town" days after we got robbed in chinatown and we absolutely lost our minds laughing. that was a year ago, and that line is still going strong within the group

I'm 45 and have felt this way since 2000. When I was a junior in college, I felt weird that all my college friends were gathering to watch something that we had been watching since we were little children. I felt a sense of arrested development back THEN. I can't believe it is still around.
I was done with commercials. I have RU-vid premium, I don’t have cable, everything I watch is streamed. But then Amazon was Amazon and now when I watch one of the very few shows I watch on prime, I’m back to seeing TV ads
Fun fact, one of the writers said exactly what he wants to have for the full finale, which ends with them going to a school play, the exact one from “Simpsons roasting on an open fire”, their pilot episode. They want it to be one big time loop.

Disney Plus is actually a terrible way to watch the Simpsons because the older episodes are cropped because they were in 4:3 and for some reason they're scared of acknowledging that resolution used to exist. Not only cutting out details, but in some cases outright ruining visual gags
I want Bart to wake up in the last episode and be back in the Tracey Ullman shorts. Fade out and acknowledge the great Phil Hartman, Marcia Wallace, Doris Grau, etc
I kind of think the Simpsons will always go on in some form, even after the last season. Kind of like how the Muppets, Mickey Mouse, or Loony Tunes are always still around in some form. Maybe it will be a commercial, maybe it will be rebooted as one of those 3D animated kid cartoons, or maybe it will be a live mascot like you see at Disney World. Or maybe it will actually be a Simpsons costume walking around Disney World, since they own everything. Yes, this means that, eventually, the characters would be recast, not unlike whoever currently plays Mickey Mouse or Kermit.

I've always said that the Simpsons is falling apart because it's being written by people who grew up watching the Simpsons trying to write Simpsons episodes, and this is the most concentrated and or distilled version of that only more better

It's funny, I don't particularly mind that The Simpsons is still running but just this week I found myself thinking about whether the production had ever considered writing a final episode and getting some lines recorded just to have in storage, and then when the time finally came they'd have that episode animated and released at the end of whatever season they were on. Would be cool to have a contingency, and found it interesting that I was thinking about that only to find this video today.
3:00 my family had a many year tradition of sitting down together and watching the Simpsons every night at 18:00 on channel 4 (British television). I kind of wish we still did, despite the inconvenience of it.
Yesterday, my boyfriend (who watched a single video by you many years ago) asked me, "What happened to that guy with the white dog? Haven't seen anything from him for a while.." Today I open RU-vid & this was the first video that popped up. I hadn't realized how many YIAY's I've missed until now.. This was a good episode to come back to!
