truth be told the winnie is nice , however the jeep camping and adventure is what got me here in the beginning . I look forward to more jeep camping and cheese sandwiches ! seriously add some mushrooms.....
I agree. I have not actually watched a video for months since the Jeep engine died. I enjoyed the old content much more. I know their life circumstances are changing and that's okay. Our interest was with the more difficult overlanding.
Chris, his Orangie and Dan Grec have been the main reason why I bought (2018) a used JKU ordered a Ursa Minor Poptop and shipped this vehicle in a container from Switzerland to Vancouver to dive into a panam adventure…😊Thanks for the inspiration!
So glad to see it isn't the Jeep going! Love the Revel too and the adventures it took you guys on but Orangie is the star of the channel! Good luck with the sale!
We’ve been full time in our 2018 self built Sprinter on 35’s and we’ve enjoyed every minute of it. However, I have learned we shouldn’t four wheel our house. So we bought a 2dr 2018 JK for the exploration portion. Glad to see you’re doing well. ❤
Orangie is your Brand Symbol and I feel it should never leave your side \-/ when I think Venture4wd i think Orangie :) couldn't imagine the channel with out it ......some TLC and with new engine already in it is ready for new adventures ...Cheers .
My 2016 Jeep JK has 170,000 miles and is beginning to have some problems as depicted on my channel. I’m sooo glad you’re keeping the Jeep so those of us with high mileage vehicles might learn something from your experiences.
Sorry to hear you are having to sell the Mercedes Winnebago , I hope you and Shannon will be able to find something as a cheaper alternative in the future and glad to see Orangey back to life again.
Two things I believe in to live my best life. 1. No debt whatsoever!! 2. Never get married. A low stress life is the only way to roll!! Timmy C Arizona
Chris I have video recording that VERY SAME sound. Turns out, my front suspension all needed tightening up. Everything aftermarket had worked loose. 2013 Rubicon, 2018 jeepers jamboree and 2023 Moab. She’s been around like yours. Check all linkage. Good luck.
Looks like Shannon likes her home , and living in the Revel is no longer needed. Chris, you made the Sprinter Van into something pretty nice too ! Someone’s going to buy it fast
I didn’t see that coming. Thought for sure it was the Defender you were getting rid of. Met you and Shannon at the Revel Rally in Durango, along with Finnegan. I hope you get what you need for the Revel. So many used ones on the market right now.
I was saying the exact same thing too, to my husband after the last video. Sorry to see the Revel go, but the Jeep is what got us started on this channel and our own overlanding adventures.
@@robbrautigam462To each is own, but growing up with multiple family members who had numerous cars in the yard and only one that barely ran it thought me a valuable lesson in less is more. I’d rather have 1-2 well maintained cars than several you’re constantly working on.
Chris - longtime viewer and fan…from the early days when you were not sure what this would be. Glad you’re heading back to the Jeep. Be great to see a refresh of Orangie…that would be great to watch, and some kind of return to overlanding…recognizing that with a home base, it’ll have to be different, which will be fine with your fans.
probably a wise choice. debt is crippling, physically and mentally. While the van was a great addition to the channel, you built this place with the jeep and theres no reason it cant continue to grow .
I have an MB Sprinter beneath our Pleasure Way Ascent and Chris is spot on when it comes to MB dealers. It’s like those dealers believe they have the obligation to overcharge for everything. I don’t use MB dealers for our service and over the past 100K miles our maintenance might be 40% less than an MB dealer.
It’s nice to see how this book in your journey has opened and closed. Goes to show everyone that progress looks different at different points in our lives and that keeping up with what you have (no matter if you’re using it or not) is important.
Oh, nooo Chris ,it is very bad news. I am so like orange Jeep on the track.Week to week I am watching your off- road traveling.Gretting from Poland.:(((
Truth be told, the orange Jeep has become your trademark. I’m not a van guy but to each their own. I do own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler and a 1966 Land Rover, and watching your Defender and Orangie step through the back country is like 4X4 porn! I stopped in at Sonoran Rovers on Tuesday and actually got to drive the Wolf you previewed a few weeks ago. I loved it ! What a beast. If it wouldn’t cost an additional $12,000 to smog certify it here in California, I would seriously consider it. Best wishes. Be safe and stay well. Keep the shiny side up.
@@venture4wd Yes! I couldn’t believe how overbuilt it was! Very smooth, actually comfortable and felt like it was carved from a single block. I loved it! What a machine. Best wishes Chris, Lance
Wise move deciding to sell the Mercedes RV (while it's still in great shape), and getting out from under the large debt. Also, I can only imagine how much it must cost you to insure that thing! Are you going to consider an off-road camper trailer for the Jeep, for your and Shannon's next adventures? That would provide some great content, I think!
Sorry to hear that it's time to let the Sprinter go. Hope it takes a little pressure off though. Thanks for all the good times, I've enjoyed your trips very much.
Glad to see the back of the Revel…. I loved your original postings with Orangy but felt the concept lost direction with the introduction of the other vehicle, glad to hear we are back on track 👍
The Jeep is Venture4wd. The Winnie was a pleasant diversion but ultimately not capable or functional. Sell it to some baby-boomer whose idea of offroad is negotiating speed bumps in the Vons parking lot.
I'm a Revel guy so I remember all the butt hurt on here when you got it. I have a Tacoma TRD Pro but I got the Revel for the same reason you did, my wife. lol I have to admit I love my Revel and it's paid off so I'm keeping it.
Honestly a smaller used class c rv set up to flat tow Orangie would do you guys so well. If you went with a ford chassis you could even look into a u-joint off road conversion!
I have a 2017 Rubicon and had an issue in the front suspension also. The solution was replacing the ball joints. That was the one thing all the experts said would not cause the problem. So much for the experts. The lower ball joints had minimal play, but I replaced them with the adjustable Teraflex parts and everything was great again. Something to check.
I think it's a smart move. Now that you guys have a home, selling it takes a big burden off. Don't get me wrong, I've been watching for years and would have still watched van videos as I have one myself but the jeep is the jeep
Arizona should NEVER be called home if your from Pennsylvania!! In fact Pennsylvania should ALWAYS be called home even if you’ve never been to Pennsylvania!!! Now if we could somehow give away Philly to NJ, NJ would LOVE Philly!! It’s got everything NJ wants!!! Pennsylvania would be PERFECT!!
Yep..keep to basics n what you enjoy..so long as your physically able..finding out last month having a heart attack..one stent n a new lifestyle..over 4 decades of jeeps..my 03' TJ rubicon still working just fine..so thanks n do something fun today
Good to see you keeping orangie. I contemplated getting a Revel. The high cost turned me off. Instead I found a used ford transit Quigley and did a build out of my own. It gets me into some very sketchy areas. Looking forward to jeep refit!!
Good Move! I cringed when I saw the episode where you said you had a 20 year loan on the Revel. I am looking forward to more videos with the Jeep and Land Rover.
I'm glad the Jeep's not going but when you got that big camper I thought. Oh boy that's a lot of money but you got to do what you got to do. If that's the case it's got to go. No questions about it. You're paying for it. You do what you got to do. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Good choice. No offense but I thought the revel was awful and a total disservice to your channel. I hope you get a gladiator and equip it for your travels
Chris a better set up to consider for your Overland Adventures would be to have an Overland Trailer like a Patriot Camper. When you Overland solo you take the Jeep, when Shannon travels with you, you tow the Patriot Camper. I say Patriot because they are arguably the best, yes they’re expensive but they’re built to last like your Wrangler. A lot of people baulk at the initial price ( Brad from Trail Recon did ) but since owning one he raves about ownership. So does Marco from OverlandX. Worth a thought for your kind of adventure.
PHEW!!! By the title, I thought you were going to sell orangie. May I suggest you consider a Dynatrac ProRock 44 front axle for orangie. It can be built the width of your stock axle with spacers, which will give you proper scrub radius, resulting in much longer lasting components.
Tough decision Chris but financially sound, you can always get another one later then back to a (nearly) perfect escape pod, just missing a boat🤪. Maybe you can find one you can put out the back and build into what you and Shannon want with a build video on it.
@venture4wd have you thought about exploring Alaska again? Maybe western Canada on the way? The Purcells look like an epic place to explore. Alaska is all the rage now and you might get some views. Your content has always been top notch.
I’ve dreamed about owning a 4x4 van for a long time. Even started to build out an Econoline a few years ago. Fact of the matter is, these vehicles are extremely expensive. Whether you’re starting from scratch or buying a fully functional machine like the Revel. I do still follow the market and it seems the used prices have come way down over the last year or so. Something to consider when selling yours. There’s a lot to be said about financial freedom, so I hope it all works out for you guys. Maybe a short wheelbase two door Rubicon is on your future? That would be fun. Good luck with the sale!
When was the last time you replaced the bushings in the sway bar links? also check the rear sway bar bushings as well as the shock and other bushings. I dealt with that similar clicking and found sway bar bushings shot, stabilizer shock bushing missing. Replaced all worn out bushings took care of the noise - replace with rubber bushings, polyurethane bushings squeek badly after time. Also check that the coils are seated properly, sometimes they will rotate and hit against the coil seat stop. These kinds of noises are annoying and where you think it is may not be where it is.
Hi Chris. Got me spooked for a while there, thinking you were going to sell Orangie. Like the Revel but Orangie is the star and the reason I started following you in 2017, since I got my 2018 JKU. Been a Patreon from the start. Can’t wait to watch more adventures with Orangie. You have inspired me to make my own little YT channel. Keep it up.
It's a good time to get out of a loan. You probably have it at a fairly high interest rate, and now that those rates have fallen, it makes a lot of sense to sell. Good luck!
Well done. No one wants to worry about their investment being ruined on a remote trail. If you can’t take it down the road less traveled then get rid of it.
Sell it before the values plummet! It’s started and it will get worse by the end of 2024. Selling it seems smart bro! RV sales are slowing drastically.
The Jeep content brought me to the channel. The Aspie-coded adventures make everything super-relatable to me, but my own Aspie hyper-fixation on Jeep content and strong aversion to sudden/major change, probably would have put me off. Not trying to be adversarial, just honest. I think you're making the right choice. I am singularly pleased, myself. That said, I did dig the Revel. I like RV content, too. And the Rover's maxi-sweet.
This will be an interesting turn of events... The Van thing isn't for me, but that's my just my opinion. It's like when a Rock Star starts to make softer music, or goes country... I didn't buy anymore of their music. Hee hee I really enjoy the Jeep... Ya, I'm a Jeep guy ... But those were cool adventures. And watching Shannon behind the wheel and learning was cool. As others have stated, Orangy is what brought me here as well. I watched the Van footage only because I wanted to make sure you got the support ... Maybe he will come to his senses. Hahaha (my opinion slipping out again). I think it's more of an exciting time now, to see what you guys come up with. I would really like to see both vehicles puttering around together!? ... And think about it!! Take the money you would have paid for the Revel ... Even the monthly payment... And put it into the other two!! Hee hee
A poem I wrote many years ago that has served me well: Buy It? If you want it Don’t buy it Until you ponder it That you need it. Then, after you ponder it And still want it Because you need it And can afford it Without cred-it Buy it! But only if you really, really need it After you really, really, ponder it. Better yet Do with out it, Then forget it! The shorter version: If you want it Don’t buy it Ponder it That you need it And can afford it Without cred-it. Better yet Do with out it Then forget it!
You got my attention quickly with the title to this video. I was going to tell you many things then you said the Rebel. My BP went down quick. In many ways I wish I was you. I being a Texan, and you have a beautiful Texas Lady, you have it made. The best of both worlds. However, the selling of Orangie would be bad for your mental health. You built that baby to meet your desires(requirements). She is the love of your life, it would be a divorce from hell LMAO. Wishing you and Shannon a super blessed week. With love from Central Texas.
While you were looking into the popping noise on Orangy, it made me think about a question I have been meaning to ask. What is the lowest PSI you will go on your jeep using those OE Rubicon wheels with 35s? I just upgraded my 18 JLUR shoes to 35s and wasn't sure what I wanted to do as far as wheels so held off till all my research is in for my best option. After so many miles traveled in that configuration, you are pretty much the authority on this setup. thanks, in advance for your input.
Well, the haters got what they wanted. I really enjoyed the Revel content. But I seem to be one of the few. Shame the reason for selling is purely for financial reasons. Mark my words, you will miss the comfort and versatility the Revel brings to overlanding. Sad to see see it go from someone who wasn't afraid to use it to its full potential. Thank you for all the Revel videos.
