Try Guys did it way way better than the "Other Guys" (aka. Watcher)

It’s crazy to me that content creators think people would pay the same amount for hbo max or Netflix, as their stuff. Mm yes I could spend 7 dollars to watch 5 videos of bros preening for a camera with barely any narrative and hack comedy or I could pay 7 dollars to watch the best shows on modern television, entire back catalogues of decades of content like Star Trek, documentaries, reality Tv., AND kids shows. Hmmm hard choice. The only reason patreon works is because tiers and interaction with the creators. But this is like asking someone to pay a RU-vid service with only one content option. Do they work for Sony overseeing Hell Divers by any chance?

They are still posting their regular stuff on RU-vid for free. They’re just making a streaming service so that they can post things that they’re not allowed to post on RU-vid. They want to have more freedom with their content. I’ve noticed that at least Zack, seeming super restricted and unable to say certain things or do certain things because they’ll get demonetized or RU-vid won’t share the video with other people. I personally want to see what they’re going to make but they’re not forcing you, they’re still posting on RU-vid which is nice. Nobody has to say goodbye to them or choose to pay to watch the same stuff that they were watching for free before. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was hoping it was just a clickbaity title and thumbnail, but without even really knowing anything about the announcement they compare it to Watcher and even after listening to what they are planning to do, especially with the part of them not taking their content out of RU-vid, they still kept piling on the same old rhetoric. As for Patreon, they mentioned in the announcement video itself that Patreon is not a good site for streaming content, it is not supported on many devices. They want to make content that they wish to make without any external corporate oversight and this is the most feasible way they figured out. Ethan blind reacting to things is what he does, but if none of the people even know about the topic then at least someone on the team should watch the video beforehand to correct him or give additional context rather than everyone just piling on to his asinine takes.

They've always been open about wanting to be on a network tv level at some point. Their production level is honestly very good and I think this is their jump into that. They said it'll allow them to give other creators space for shows that aren't really on brand for their channel. I think it's cool

I love the Try Guys they have good content IMO and they seem like genuinely nice guys. TBH idk what the big deal is bc this isn't much different than GMM's mythical society subscription and I have been subscribed to that for about 2 years now.

I feel like the big difference is that watcher was going to put ALL of their content behind a paywall. Also I gotta point out (cause I've made this mistake before) that membership =/= paid membership on patreon. If you click on the "about" it shows that they have about 1900 paid members.

Other than Jonnycakes who I luv….more meh for 50 bucks a year or 5.00 a month .H3 puts out killer sweet content ❤ I suspect they had to buy out Eugene and Cheater man to keep afloat…

To me the try guys have fallen off the wagon. I was a huge fan of (some) of them. But after the Nedd incident, Eugene slowly started to disappear from the show, and we have the most vanilla tryguy and Keith, with appearances from former Buzzfeed people. And Their content started to look like Buzzfeed videos, stretching their videos, sucking up to their fans.

I've known about try guys from 2018 and have been regularly watching them since 2020 and all I can say is that the reason was primarily Eugene. He was the most interesting and fascinating. And ever since he stopped appearing in videos, I stopped watching it too as the videos went from cool to lukewarm coca cola. I mean their content was never something groundbreaking or extra ordinary but due to Eugene it had an extraness and personality. Which is now gone. So bye try guys I guess.
