Indeed it's time to talk about him, he just defeated Alcaraz on clay at home.

And 7 days after this video was posted, he won his 2nd Master’s 1000 title in Madrid. Go Rublo 🎉

It's difficult to go from the 18 year old with so much potential to the 26 year old who feels that he hasnt lived up to it. It's not just pro athletes, many young adults go through this

He is a sweetheart. Everyone loves him.He is definitely taking some professional help for his anger management. We saw that helped him during the match against Alcaraz. He was so calm in which he won the game. He is hugely talented. I am sure he is working on his issues. God bless dear Andrey.

I think he's one of the few "temperamental" players which 99% of the fans like, and that says a lot about him. I find it easy to empathize with him, and I believe anyone who's gone through depression, imposter syndrome or similar self-perception issues might as well

Rublev to me, is the product of Tiger Parents/unreasonable expectations. As a former college player who grew up playing with high-level junior players that could've gone pro I've seen this playout. Had a teammate in high school who actually attended one of those IMG/Evert/Nadal-type tennis boarding school academies and they came back home after a short struggle with mental health. It's a bittersweet realization to have that maybe your dream (being a pro tennis player) is someone else's burden or nightmare...

Rublev is showing an amazing performance in Madrid. He hasn't dropped his level for years. He is very consistent and powerful. Nobody was surprised that he beat Alcaraz. He is always in top 10.

As a kid, he was probably never allowed to fail a little and told it was going to be fine... He is such a loveable guy ❤ I hope he finds himself!

I think that a penalty during a match for self harm (including verbal harm) would make matters worse. However, some kind of post-tournament penalty along the lines of required counselling could be helpful, depending on what the ATP could come up with. Watching Andrey melt down for me is far, far worse than the classic tantrums of McEnroe or Kyrgios, or the constant umpire abuse that a lot of players exhibit. The latter is unpleasant, but I don't worry for the player (I just don't like them). With Rublev as many have said, I always love him, but fear for his health.

This is a great video really bringing justice to the champion Andrey is. It's tough to see him drowing since the Dubai Incident. I pray for him to get better quickly. He's a great guy who deserves all the love.

He should see a sports psychologist. His family should spend time watching his matches and try to correct any problems they have had in the past. He should seek his friends for their help.

My favorite moment I always look back to is his win over Roger… it’s one of those matches where he looked so composed and his style was fluid. Hope to see that version of him again

His brute force approach is his biggest problem. He needs to change his rhythm occasionally (slice, dropshots, different shot trajectories) and close the net more effectively. Wow he is only 26? Definitely some more time to grow for him.

Great video. He needs to control his temper, and behavior on the court, and focus on his game otherwise he keeps beating himself up for not performing his best. And again we have to talk about him since he just won Madrid Masters. Talk about impeccable timing lol. Congrats to him but to Felix as well. He surprised me more than once this week, kicked Ruud out, he was going to beat Mensik anyway and today he lost by such a small margin.

He may need a sport psychologist, but mainly he needs a psychologist pure and simple. A psychologist with the stated mission to make him a better tennis player will run the risk of making matters even worse, since the main objective, and thus focus - explicitly or, if not, at least implicitly, is achievement, not well-being as such.

I agree he needs to recognize how good he is… he is his worse enemy…

Prayers for Him while he is coping during this time and He's a good player, he has a good heart, good intentions and he just needs people who can help him and give him support in areas needed and rely on his Faith as well to pull him back in emotionally spirtually, mentally, physically and he needs to reset and reexamine the root of the issues he's carrying and affecting him deep down in his soul and get an understanding or idea how to address these issues in a positive way. If that makes sense idk.🤔🤷‍♂️💪💞🙏

Love it when you said being a fan we can have a lot more empathy & be a bit less judgmental. I bet he must have received many advises/suggestions on how to improve his technical & mental game but as you said unless he's ready to help himself ... also it takes time to change. Break my heart to see his self-sabotaging behavior on-court, especially when he seems such a nice and adorable guy off the court.

Rublev accomplished a lot with the "few tools" that he has. I think he has the biggest upside of all of the players in the top 10. If he gets in mental and physical shape and works on the areas mentioned. Make no mistake that is a big list to have to improve.

I'm a psychologist and your insights were pretty good. That exact moment when he's "undercover" struck me aswell. It seems all around he's struggling to be somebody who is equally loveable by both himself as others. On court he sets an immense bar (but who doesn't; they're professionals). The fact is that his behavior gets him in trouble sometimes. From my point of view he could benefit from changing his core beliefs about himself/others (cognitive therapy). Identify those and at least he knows what he's dealing with: the ghosts of his past. He is already succesfull in tennis, but somehow I get the feeling he'd rather has a succesfull character.

Great video. Rublev is also a metalhead, which I appreciate too! I don't know if he is working closely with a sports psychologist, but he really needs it. CBT or other therapies could help him manage his emotions much better, and channel his frustration better.

Feels a bit like Murray. We all loved him, nice guy and funny, but his mind always seemed to get the best on the court.

My buddy and I were talking about how he probably needs a break and go touch some grass. He obviously has a dark cloud over his head. Maybe a short hiatus in which he finds joy in something outside of tennis is what he needs. I mean, the man barely had an offseason.

I saw him against Cilic in his first pro year in Genebra, when he lost after having a match ball. The forehand was mind blowing! People were sometimes laughing nervously after some winners, as nobody saw such a powerful stroke. He certainly could use more drop shots with the forehand, as his adversaries are always far back the baseline when he hits a forehand, similar to Alcaraz.

The fact that the tennis commentators and fans are able to talk freely and empathise and look for solutions for Rublev now shows just how far you have all come in the last ten years since Kyrgios showed exactly the same issues under stress. He has been a ground breaker in highlighting what lies behind Rublev's behaviour. For himself, Instead of showing concern and empathy he was fined, suspended and banned for months, for much less. Banned for three months after arguing with an umpire at Shanghai. Fined $110,000 for smashing racquets and calling Fergus a 't...' when given a time violation. Taken to the cleaners for underarm serves. Called a clown for tweeners. Kyrgios is obviously very concerned that the same does not happen to Rublev and has offered to fly from anywhere in the world to talk to him. The ATP must not do to Rublev and Rune what it did to Kyrgios and Tomic. You have never shown any care for him in your videos. Yet every reason behind Rublev's issues is present in Kyrgios's life. Except colour. And being Australian.

I couldn't get why a lot of tennis fans value the so-called "stoic" so much in tennis more than in other sports, we are all humans and humans have emotions. Ofc some players are very stoic and seldom express their emotions, but we should be seeing them as a "rare occurrence." c'mon man if you didn't do well on a test or work even if you spend a lot of time or money, will you be happy about it and just say nvm?

Rublev's fine. It's time we talk about the whacked ATP tour schedule and how players are getting frequent injuries. Also, please talk about ATP and WTA's policy of mandatory tournaments -- imposing penalties on top players if they don't play the Masters 1000. It's becoming problematic. Rybakina just talked about it in her presser. Tsitsipas talked about it last year when he was playing with injury.

9:30 It was a joke, mate, simple as, don't make something out of it. He definitely needs some help in the mental area, I think he has the talent to break off that QF curse. Once he does that, he'll calm down a bit. He just gets angry way too easily. Medvedev also gets angry but Rublev just bursts even at 40-0 if he loses a point. Limited or not, he's beaten Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, not something many players can brag about. He is capable of better but at the moment there are many highly competitive players on tour.

Law of attraction I hope you mentioned the fact that he’s never gotten into a grand slam semifinal. That’s like a mental hurdle that he has an overcome and that’s a big one because all his other buddies all his other Russian buddies having he was the leader of the pack for a while.

So likeable and sweet off-court, his behavior on-court is confronting. I don’t know enough about him for a solution, but he’s too hard on himself. It’s only a game. He needs a calming influence.

Rublev is a passionate and superb player who gives 100 percent to his game. His lack of self-restraint does get in the way of his performance but he is seldom if ever disrespectful to his opponents or the audience. He’s often a crowd favourite. His disqualification at Dubai was incredibly unfair considering the passes other players have received for far worse offences. One only has to go back to the 2021 Vienna Open semifinal between Sinner and Tiafoe. I have never in all my years watching the sport witnessed such disrespectful and appalling behaviour. Tiafoe should have been thrown out of the tournament immediately. Yet the clucks at ATP could only cheer him on, quacking and honking in delight like a cadre of manic fowl. The problem with ATP is that they either have double standards or no standards at all.

But now he will be better shape cuz he is in the quarterfinals of Madrid which he will probably lose against Carlitos, but it is a good progress.
