I'd say Every home needs "Vice Grips". ( The real Mccoy too. Not the Craftsman brand or any other fakery ) They are just as good for those two applications, as well as having the one adjustment, are spring loaded, and have another 999,998 more uses.

I have not seen anything as unique and useful since I saw the video showing how they the replace screens for the glass bottom on the glass bottom boats boats in the summer. Its much cooler and the bugs don't get in.

Being an inventor myself and to be totally honest, this is not an invention it's an innovation. As we have craft knives and hacksaws. You first cut the studding with such tool. Craft knives have protection against the blade when not used. You will never get any protection on it and it's already out there. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But don't give up you may come up with something that is unique.

A new box cutter with blades is available from Harbor Freight for $2 - I would still have to have a utility knife blade lying around. Interesting to a point. I might have an old hinge ... then need to buy all-thread and handle. I may have nuts and washers. Still. $2 for a new knife. 2 Pc Lock-Back Utility Knife Set $10 USD.
