Hetfield did all the rhythm parts himself, because it sounds tighter and more natural that way. The only thing on the first 4 albums that’s Kirk is the actual solos themselves. True story.

St anger was a good album. Just people are so used to hearing Metallica sound a certain way people got upset. Just like when they made fade to black Metallica fans said they sold out. Fans get so upset lol. It's sad.

Yeah I think most people who laugh at this were never in a band and never recorded their rehearsals on a shitty phone recorder. This really sounds the way rehearsal recordings often do, especially if the band is on the budget (which is pretty much always the case).

The only things missing are the bass booming covering up nearly everything and the singer somehow audibly talking during the solo.

Especially if you're still hashing it out. Good musicians aren't necessarily good because they can nail everything first try. They're good because they practice until they can nail it.
