Disassembled with one hand while filming with the other. Pretty impressive. I’m sure there’s never been a bra this man couldn’t unhook in his sleep. But seriously nice video and thanks for the help.
If you have a 2008 XC90 Forget about pulling the wire harnesses apart. Just remove the base carpet piece that the vertical carpet piece. No need to remove the exterior body section either. Then the two bolts
THIS video saved me $200+... (replaced whole unit - swapped over the bulbs.. good to go in less than an hour) so yeah THANK YOU!!! (TIP: if you have a small extender for a 11MM socket - it makes getting the second upper hidden nut way easier to deal with)
One thing to note is for the 2013 and 2014 model years, the tail light and break light bulbs were “upgraded” to LED strips. This means that if a LED strip fails (like what happened on my 2013), the whole assembly has to be replaced, unless there is another option I am unaware of. I just replaced the right side assembly on mine just because it seemed to be the easiest. Very helpful video.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. It would have taken me a couple of hours to figure out how to get to the back of the tail light.
After 2014, you're screwed. You have to pull the rear wheel arches, drop the bumper, and pull the rear inner panels. Good luck. It's gonna take a lot more than 3 minutes
Man I was struggling to get it off because found instructions from manual to open only one bolt to get this done. Found your video and the tip to open the second bolt too and all was easy after that :) Thanks!
🤔Want to put the older style 2005 taillights in a 2008? Is it a direct fit plug & play or do I need the upper portion of the lights? UPDATE..!👌🏾 It was plug and play. The only difference was the older taillights harness wouldn’t work for the rear fog light. Other than that was easy! BUT you’ll need the upper rear reflectors for a flush fit which I had as well.. if not you it’s not a perfect fit(need to trim a lil here and there). I bought all for both sides for the price of a one factory taillight!
I think you're good to go since I believe its only the exterior design where the reverse lights are which has been restyled from circular to square-ish look. But you should be good to swap out
@@nabeeljacksonrhoda6480 I did it a few days ago and you’re right it was plug and play. The only difference was the older taillights harness wouldn’t work for the rear fog light. Please don't do this so carelessly and with one hand. Don't hold the assembly by the wire with the full weight of the assembly hanging on the wire/connection. You break these PLASTIC clips and you're gonna be spending hundreds for whole replacement assemblies... (10mm used to remove long screw bolt - leave it hand-tight for the next time and you won't need a tool.)
Good explaination Rome but a little frustrating when the camera was not on what you were talking about. It got me through a painful job - compaired to other cars.
My lead tech told me that's gonna be a bitch to change found your video and yeah just about 3 minutes and I had that changed and a tag light too thanks broham keep up the great work
If I change the 2005 lights(round light) with 2007(square lights on reverse) lights will fit? Some people say that I need the wires as well.Is that true?
