Anti-freeze is actually known to taste sweet. That's why they advise to be careful with it around children and pets newer ones might have additives in it to taste bad to prevent this.
I was wondering the same thing! I didn't know it tastes sweet though. I know now that they add something to it to make it taste really bad but I didn't realize that they needed to so badly! I assumed that it wouldn't be very pleasant tasting to begin with. The more you know! 🌈🌟

Yea I'm surprised they don't do the hairnets for people with long hair and gloves and things like that. Because there are some health department rules that call for things like that. But again if it's just for TV than this is different.
All of the food related business there needs to be super clean. Middle East are strict when it comes to food preparation cleanliness. For their employees, they need to pass the Medical Test first before they start. One fly or insects in a food and someone report that to the Ministry(Baladiya) will automatically close the shop/resto/food stall etc.

It is a strategy. Cake Boss is a show where they are showing amazing and great tasting cakes and obviously that factory wants to taste and see how their cake is done. Probably buddy didn't put much effort into that cake so that they wouldn't be able to copy it. This is based on my opinion since I'm working in the same field as them.
I remember this guy used to be famous for his crazy sculptures of cakes and at that time not many people would do that... Now his work really isn't good anymore. There are people on RU-vid who put so much more effort and detail on their cakes than them.
Actually if you work in the food industry, only raw food needs to be handled with gloves. Otherwise it's actually more hygienic without gloves. However hair-nets or hats should be used.
That cake is legit eye rape not even the Color scheme goes together. their cakes used to look way cooler. My mom and I used to binge watch the show and be amazed at the creativity that goes in designing the cake. Guess not anymore. Sad 😞

I wasn't impressed at all. They should have taken the tour before making the cake and get some inspiration. Look at details of the architecture, and the 'details' of the cake. Cake boss really needs to upgrade their shit.

Wouldn't it have just been easier for them to fly him and some of his team out there, give them a commercial kitchen like at a hotel or catering hall or something, and have him bake and construct it there in Saudi Arabia? I get he'd be more comfortable baking in his own facility, but when it comes to the common sense approach, why wouldn't they just make the cake there? It's not like they can be saving that much having that big ass thing in a crate, regulated by dry ice, still having to be flown. That sort of flight for s came like that seems highly risky.
Sherlanda Surry I was just thinking the same thing. Cake Boss is what got me interested in baking and now I can't figure out why this show would have ever inspired me. I think he's losing his edge.

I'm sure Buddy and his team are very hygienic people and all, but I really don't know how I would feel if I found out someone made my cake without using any gloves.
Speaking personally as long as they stay hygienic it should be fine gloves get messy quickly, constantly needs to be replaced and can ruin a certain details due to them sticking to things your skin doesn't
The Saudi Arabian cakes looked amazing! They added detail. But theirs just had dots for windows😳just dry iced it to ship it? No wonder it was dry! Dry ice wasnt made for shipping cake, thats why you get it shipped professionally
Actually at first look they look pretty dry and crumbly..no syrup in the sponge...too much dhoughy fondant work...too much rice crispy and you dont know what is wood what is cake and what might be metal untill you keep stabbing with a knife.

Talan Bidwell it really depends on how it's made. If you get it from the store, it's disgusting, if you make it from sugar and marshmallows, it's good.
Many bakeries use marshmallow fondant when decorating actually especially many higher end-ish bakeries. There still are bakeries that use normal fondant but you can also find many bakeries that use marshmallow fondant

Its a show of money and power. Its common in the Gulf countries to do something like this. Basically saying "I'm so rich and I'm so well connected that i got a cake made by a famous baker and imported all the way from America"

I find the amount of negativity in the comments of Cake boss videos quite confusing considering that they're about something as non-polarising and happy as cakes.

Even though we in Saudi Arabia have lots of unbelievable and amazing cake shops and they're much better than Buddy's family one, we still like and appreciate Buddy's visit to Jeddah city, because we like people like him and his family who have lots of good and authentic fundamentals in their lives, sharing love and showing appreciation to people around them.
Notice how Saudi Arabia isn’t mistreating all their women how people claim they do..but no one seems to care now apparently I see them having a good time at a bakery
@Yosef Alshdoke they mistreat women, especially non saudi women. Im not saudi and i worked in both Riyadh and Jeddah. I can tell you from personal experience that they have very little if any respect for Women especially non-Saudi ones. Unfortunately most Saudis live in a bubble and know very little of outside their own social circles to be able to understand that. I've worked in a number of other middle eastern countries as well including Yemen (I'm of muslim origin myself) and alhamdoulillah , they treat women a LOT better there and other neighbouring countries. They know what the word respect means
