Guitar of the Day! Taking a quick look at more of the new 70th Anniversary Fender Stratocasters... including the American Ultra in Amethyst, arguably one of the coolest finishes in the Strat's 7-decade history. The Antigua Vintera II and American Vintage II Reissue of the original 1954 production strat are also looking pretty decent 🤘

I really think the Lugia and Antigua, are bad choices. As you said, the one styled on the original, is obvious, but just have something that a kid would’ve painted back then, or something, besides the Antigua and that horrible loogie-a.

Honestly never been a huge fan of normal headstock always loved the oversized one thats on my strat happy 70th to the strat as well they all look killer and id love one no matter the headstock

I agree with that statement. The guitars with that head is the American Performer series and the Squier affinity right? The only other ones I see are like 70s lookalikes in their other series but the two I mentioned seems to be the most consistent with having that headstock in stock form

Since I got my first Strat in the early 70s I'm happier with them; it's what Blackmore used in the Machine Head era. Robin Trower says the bigger headstock improves sustain just a wee bit, and that a maple fingerboard sounds brighter. You may be able to get one by ordering one of his artist models from the Fender Custom Shop.

The 54 reissue looks great but I'll stick with my 60th anniversary one! Pretty much identical! Being really picky, on one I've seen up close, they've not used "Pat Pend" bridge saddles that they had on the 60th which is more vintage accurate. Yes it's a geeky comment and probably utterly pointless but hey, can't help noticing these things, lol!

I have the Vintera ii Antigua and it’s phenomenal. I also got it at $400 off the list price. Fit finish and playability really blew me away.

I saw the gold one and some others at Guitar Center last week and they were pretty good looking. I wanted all of the ones I saw, even the ones outside of the 70th anniversary series 😅

Great to see! Fender Strat is one of the most copied and so many knock offs but nothing beats the original. I was able to buy one good Strat in my life, Limited Edition Elite HSS, now discontinued, it offers many sound options with C/D neck and I love it. To me, it is the perfect strat for me though there are so many great Strat models available now. I am sad to see so many of Fender's great amps are not made anymore because of assembly costs/part costs and availabikity/lack of repair centers, it is not Fender's fault, just over time where things have evolved to. Fender is an American Icon. Gibson and a few others have endured the test of time with world changes, production changes, cost increases with volume in sales varing, increased shipping costs, etc. People only see the products but the people behind the scenes make it happen and get the products to the stores and public. Manufacturing is a very tricky and constantly changing challenge. A lot of skill behind the scenes keeps it happening. Hats off to all the managers, luthiers, line workers, administrators, design concept and wood aquisition pros that bring us all these fantastic products! Thank you Fender and all the other makers that keep the US market filled with new choices, sounds and a never ending choice of wonderful instruments!

The U in Antigua isnt silent. Its pronounced like Agua... antigua translates to antique, hence the name for the guitar finish and name

Fender American Stat only cost $130 including softcase when they came out from factory down here at Cort Indonesia-Ngoro Mojokerto...i dont think they are great to me...😂

I have a beautiful 2000 Squier copy of a 1962 Tele in automotive custom metallic Sherwood Green. Today I found a 60s Strat body in that finish (clone) and will someday build me a custom Strat from one. No rush, I've got too many guitars including a 1999 Jackson contradiction-in-terms, a super-strat Dinky so I'm set. A dinky Super-Strat lol

I ❤ my 🇺🇸 strat and ❤️ most Fender 🎸 , BUT Fender got too corporate ‼️ The price went up and less options to pick from ❗ I' ❤️ the professional 2 telecaster BUT for $2000 , Fender should fix the gap on the push knob with the gap between the guitar body and knob by putting washers to close up the gap. This 🎸 should NOT have been coming out of the facility in this situation ‼️ And the starcaster is a JOKE ‼️ Roasted maple necks should be a choice on the Mex and low level 🇺🇸 🎸‼️ G & L 🎸 are looking better everyday ‼️

As you might guess Antigua means Antique (they were alluding to Relics early on I guess 😮). And like you, I was going somewhere with this but I forget what. 😂 I'll watch it again later. C ya.

Meh... The iridescent color is cool but I'm suspicious of those pickups until I have heard enough from them and have put them through their paces myself....I get it it's the 75th anniversary but I don't see anything mind blowing about any of these models.

Idk man, fender guitars just look so boring to me. All their guitars look the exact same with a different paint. I just dont get the appeal. To each their own.
