Hey, it’s my first year in vex ( and my whole schools first year) and we had our first competition yesterday we did alright for our first competition but we still have the basic bot and it doesn’t do to good lol do you have and suggestions on how it where to modify it?
Did you use second gen parts like the linear motion things for the conveyer belt for the yellow mechanism or is it just a basic chain and sprocket. Also nice robot.
can you use a rubber band to force the reacher unextended but just have your drive brakes stronger than the rubber band, then you can just back up if you miss
@@shyambhagataviator yeah you just have to figure it out, we struggled a bit to get it to fit. Try to make your mechanism as slim as possible and also make your supports slim so you can fit it. Our purple mechanism is like right on the size limit
Might wanna check if your red extension arm release goes over the grey bar when shooting. Pretty sure that is illegal to have anything break the plane of the grey bar.
the release does not cross into the 2 point zone but it is right above the bar. im not sure if this is legal or not and im pretty sure there is a debate about it going on right now. i havent been stopped or disqualified at any competitions, so i really dont know. only time will tell.
@@exortions3079 my interpretation is that going over the bar is legal, but not into the 2 point zone. " Don’t cross the Fence Line until Contact. Robots may only extend over the Fence Line and 'break the plane' of the 3-dimensional area of the 2-Point Goal Zone if they are contacting the Expansion Zone." The game manual mentions "breaking the plane" of the 2 point goal zone, which is on the "scoring zone" side of the line. a piece over the bar would not "break the plane" of the 2 point zone, so i think mine is legal. hope this will clear some things up and help you win the next argument with refs.
@@exortions3079 yeah the rules here are kinda fuzzy and that’s just my interpretation (I think it’s the most accurate interpretation.) next time it happens, it’s probably worth it to appeal the dq with judges and bring up that rule.
Do you have any tips for making the yellow dispenser mechanism. My problem is that I can’t get it long enough to reach into the yellow to collect it, and fit down ways above the ground, and when I make it taller it’s to tall to get the yellow dispenser. I’m thinking that making a gap in the back of the robot and using a small gear as the bottom one for the chain will help, does it?
what i did is i made the disk basket for the yellow dispenser hinge, which means that it can like fold to fit when it swings into the robot. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rj3c37XciD4.html if you watch this video, in the first match, the far side robot has a basket that can fold when it collects the blue dispenser. mine is like that.
Another question, what did you do to get you shooter so strong and fast with only motor. I have to use a gear ration for mine. Is it the type of rubber bands you use?
Hey, we finished our intakes but the disks keep jamming :/ How do u solve that problem? Also do u have discord or something that we can talk to u easily on?
the disks are most likely jamming because of 2 reasons: 1. your magazine/stack tubes don't match the shape of the disk very well, meaning a disk can fall vertically and stay that way. if you are using curved plastic sheets as your stacks, then that is most likely not the problem. 2. multiple disks fall sideways into the stacks at once. to fix this, you should add blockers so the disks can't fall sideways and only 1 can go in at a time. personally, tuning these blockers takes a while to get right, but it is worth it. if you are in the ex machina discord server, i am there
