Southgate, for some reason, will always be criticized and despised. I don't really get it. He's by far the most successful England manager in the last 50 years, he seems to be a really nice guy, and he's created a great atmosphere in the squad for the first time in ages. Yet everyone hates him. It's bizarre. And I get that he's made mistakes and isn't a tactical genius by any stretch, but he does not deserve the hate.

There are way too many players that haven’t played in really big games. That is going to become a problem at one point in the tournament

Well he ended up at one of the biggest clubs in the world over 2 clubs that got relegated so the way he made his decision obviously worked out.

@@kd5973 deciding which club you'll play for based on the number of goals you'll score on the day isn't even leaving it up to God as Gab rightly pointed out. That's directly dependent on himself. Leaving it to God would be more like if it rains that day for example. Nothing wrong with having religion as a big part of your life but you don't make career decisions on such flimsy grounds. Had he gone to Southampton I'm certain Liverpool wouldn't have gone for him cause of the asking price. Look what happened with Lavia for example.
