I think it can be cannon xd At least the Rexxentrum Toy Authority part. Travis's said in the previous 4-sided dive that he improved Chetney's backstory and decided what he was doing with his life before Uthodurn. So there's a chance for even more hilarious things xd
If it actually said in character as part of the game than it just canon so the chair backstory is just canon as this game story is a collab of every player

I think everyone thought Chetney was the creator of the deadly furniture at the start of campaign 3, but this reference would be a cool reveal years later that the aftermath of the unknown battle was against the room itself and not some opposing fighter.

the chair was sitting dead center of the tossed room. I assumed the implication was Veth's husband was tied there and tortured, but when that wasn't the case I became very confused as to why the chair was there, as well.
As I understood it, The Xorhasians kidnapped Yeza and then the two members of the Cerberus Assembly ransacked the place looking for his research. When they didn't find anything one of them sat down as they contemplated their next move.
This is what is so great about communal storytelling. Matt surprises them all now and then with big reveals from long laid out plots and plans, but once in a while a player does the same thing to him.
The fact that that many adults for over a year fixated on a chair that an assembly member just righted to sit and contemplait their next move after discovering the tossed lab and the only alchemist who could make liquid dunamancy was taken is astonishingly hilarious
Honestly with how long phones have existed, is it really that surprising when someone just randomly starts laughing on the bus? At least there's a reason instead of just being someone off their rocker.
As soon as I heard enchanted chairs, i knew he was talking about THE chair. Then i saw some comments where people forgot about that and thought it was the furniture from the beginning of C3, which I forgot about
Great backstory all the traps and enchanted objects that gave the party trouble in the past was commissioned from Chetney with no knowledge of what it was exactly being used for
It was a slight nod to the fight at the start of the campaign then Travis comes in with a Uppercut to the Jaw by placing the furniture at the center of the room
In all honesty the entire chair thing is down to how odd it seemed in contrast but no matter how perfectly you write your notes, people will hang on to oddest things. I once described a small study and put a still warm candelabra that was supposed to signify someone was recently in the room. Given they watched it for a while and haven't seen anyone leave, it was meant to signify someone invisible. Long story short, that candelabra is now a trophy, with the most detailed item card ever written in the history of household objects but they never even bumped into the invisible person or checked the papers on the table. They took that thing to 4 different mages and 7 different shops. And the thing is, the invisible man didn't even know anything, just thought the burglars stole his candelabra for gods know what reason as he had to snuff it in a hurry and didn't have dark vision. I spent hours trying to separate what's in character and realized they really did come off as bunch of burglars looking for a hidden safe. Neither side got anything out of that entire session. I wrote the item card as a joke but they thought there has to be a reason i gave them a card for it. Its a really powerful thing how closely people can listen. But to hear and to think about what you're hearing are two different, completely separate actions. Also if you want a puzzle to take less than an hour to solve, drop a few things in there that they can fight that will set the corner on fire or shine off of the polished crystall ball to reflect a part of the doorway once they are 15minutes in with not a clue what to do and you've eaten your share of snacks.
FFS I thought it was setting up how the crew had to fight furniture in the beginning of C3 but no it was a call back to the Chair that haunts Matt to this day
Matt. They just wanted you to say "It was purposefully set here to interrogate and question someone. You can see pressure marks on the wood from some kind of bindings that are nowhere to be seen now. And the faint smell of sweat on the wood
It was both, the chair was more a dig at matt as he got super upset cause they kept on that the chair meant than just being a chair, the remark from every one else was making ref to to beginning of season 3
True, but Travis alluded to the possibility that it was chetney that actually made the deadly furniture and ira just got said deadly furniture from him, to use as ira saw fit. Which is what got the reaction from the rest of the cast. The Chair though was a total dig at Matt to the chair scene in the video.
I cant wait for Chetney to admit he also made doors so durable no one can break them down. To test the durability, they had a group of barbarians try unsuccessfully
Personally I believed it was someone who was true polymorphed as a way of keeping them quiet when they found out what happened and that's why the chair was pristine.
