Eric that was a nice flounder! I made it down to Ocean Isle a month ago and did some surf fishin ! Caught some whiting, pompano , a small Jack and some blues and one little spot
In Jersey, we called them fluke. My Dad and I back in the day on the Raritan bay would catch 5 - 7 pounders regularly. Nowadays, not so much on the bigger ones.
Great video as always brotha. Hey I use those VMC size 0 clips on most of my rods for that exact reason and tie a loop knot to it. They are rated at 50lbs and I have caught well over a 30" drum on them with no issues so hopefully that can help sometime.
My PB was a 24 on AR425 probably 20 years ago on a piece of cut squid. Man I miss those days! Glad to see the boat back on the water. As for real estate needs...I need you to convince my wife to sell our 20 acres and buy a boat and a small place around Topsail lol. I hope you get back into those flounder on the 15th.
It's a shame how folks on the water (or everywhere, I guess) get so wrapped up in their own little world and no one else exists. Had some yo-yo off of Crystal while trolling for Spanish last weekend, poking around on his phone just let his boat turn 90 degrees and start coming right at me. His mate (might have been his dad) was clearing lines or something, but saw just as I was about to lay on the horn... yelled at him. He looked up with that deadpan, "what?" expression and proceeded to turn right across my lines. I yelled, and the mate pushed him off the helm seat and stopped the boat dead in the water. I can only imagine the conversation that happened there. Or at least I hope it happened. Anyway, those mullet are strung out all the way up to Topsail. We pulled some nice sized bluefish out of the schools on my Monday trip, and saw a big blacktip feeding on the edges. There were some Spanish, but never really found the big schools. Fat Alberts were busting all over too. Fall fishing is turning on, even if the water is still 80 degrees!
