I got a '24 as well and really love it. I have been riding dual-purpose bikes since the early 80s, and owned tons of them. The KLX strikes a terrific balance of cost, weight, size, capability, ergonomics, maintenance schedule, and comfort. And it looks fantastic. The only current bike I would trade it for would be a 690 Enduro. But I would rather use the KLX on single track due to its lighter weight and lower seat height. The KLX's only significant shortcoming as a DP bike is it doesn't have long legs for the highway like say a DR650. The exact same bike with an 50 - 100 additional ccs would be awesome. But it that isn't an issue for a rider, it would be pretty hard to beat.

Spot on, I love the KLX as well. I was just thinking the other day a KLX 450 would be awesome to have. I’m happy with the 300 for what it is though. I’ve had a great time on it and it definitely serves the needs that I bought it for.

In south Louisiana, trails are really hard to find. Sometimes gravel roads, or IF you know someone who has farmland. All of it is flat. Most places are off limits, deep sandbars, or BOG. I have to drive about an hour north to get into better riding with hills. Still, many places are fenced, gated and off limits due to hunting clubs.

It gets harder and harder to find good trails. But I’m constantly looking for new spots. There’s no shortage of elevation change where I’m at in NC though.

I literally just listened to this on my traffic filled drive to work. Every weekend I curse the moto gods that because I cannot go off-roading on my klx. I go about once every 2 months. This video made me feel great! Thank you

I took my Secondary Throttle Plate out last week, even though I knew better...I dont recommend it. It does almost nothing if u have the air snorkel removed {which actually adds power}. So if u have the snorkel out AND the 13t sprocket its a useless mod. Bike starts pulling hard around 5500 rpm anyway without snorkel, and if u are riding over half throttle with the 13t u are never under 5k anyway. And now I will have to put it back in before I go on any higher elevation mountain trips this winter cuz it negatively effects the low end power at elevation. But hey....didnt want to be a hypocrite LOL.

@@DerekDualSport I definitely doesnt feel like it adds any power, just quicker throttle response at 5k. No more power at 4k, no more power at 6k. But no surge at 7k anymore, that I kind of liked. But like i said, mine wasnt lacking at 4k-7k rpm with the snorkel out and lighter chain anyway. And its a PAIN to get at. Im going to do a video on it and probably piss a lot of people off. U would have to have 14-40 or higher sprockets and have the snorkel in to benefit from it.

I pulled my secondary throttle plate and I notice a big difference in higher rpm. I have kdx snorkel and fmf exhaust and power commander fuel controller. Before I shifted the bike early because it made no power up top. Now it makes power into the higher rpms. So much better. Maybe it has something to do with the fuel controller.

@ddubs6969 Thanks for the input! I’m curious, did you do the intake/exhaust fuel controller and secondary throttle plate all at the same time? I know those stage one mods should make a big difference on their own, without taking the secondary plate out. Just curious if you had a chance to compare the mods with the plate in and out. Also what FMF exhaust are you rocking on yours? I’ve been looking for a FMF Q4 for a while.

Make friends with land owners,ranchers , farmers,saw mill owners.you would be surprised how much posted property you can gain Access to for trail riding ,camping , fishing ect. Like the bike.its like a whispering donkey.

I watched your video because I've considered buying one of these bikes. You didn't mention much about the bike, handling? suspension? Not trying to be harsh but it sounds like you need to downshift sooner, rev the bike a touch more, and lay off the clutch or you'll burn it up with all that slipping. I've ridden for many years and a legal bike is easier than outrunning the cops. I know about this. Here it would be those gas pipelines and forestry dirt roads. Powerlines roads are fun also. The Forest here is off-limits with heavy fines. Getting creative and not bothering people is good. Good luck with the job hunting.

Oh yeah this video wasn’t much about the bike’s performance, just riding around and having fun. I have put out other videos that touch on performance, handling, suspension etc. Bummer that the forests near you are off limits! We are very lucky that we have some state parks in NC designated for off roading. Thank you for watching!
