This 8, and the 6 Gran Coupe sure are good looking. Most of these 4 door coupes (A5 sportback, Kia Stinger, VW Arteon, etc etc) all turn my head whenever I see one.
I LOVE the interior, and like most of the exterior. The naming is stupid (IMO), 4 doors shouldn’t be called coup/coupe. I’m confused though, how does this and the 6 series both exist? Honest question, someone educate me. Great review as always Eddie!
The naming doesn't really make sense, they are 4 door versions of the 2 door versions of a 4 door lol. The 6 series has been replaced by the 8, no more 6.
It would honestly be such a hard pick for me between the m8 gran coupe and the gt63 4 door. If I wanted something classier I’d go for the bmw, but the Mercedes is honestly so aggressive and the interior on that is next level.
A, if you care about a sunroof or panoramic roof, the AMG GT 63S is the only option. For some reason BMW decided not to offer this option on the M8, but you can get either option on the AMG.
I disagree. Problem with the direction of BMW with the full M vehicles are they are too extreme and their ride suffers. Too stiff for a full size vehicle in the larger segments. The new M-lite gives the customer a better ride with plenty of power and full top tier luxury. BMW ‘M” is and was a idea by BMW and not a set of ultimate hardcore performance at the cost of ride. Newbies to the BMW brand know very little of the origin and concept of what “M” was to be.
I really appreciate your review! I’m currently leasing a 2018 M550i. My lease is up in 2021 and I was debating between this and the M8 Comp Grand Coupe. I would love to see your review of the M8 GC whenever you have the opportunity to do so. I’m not sure if the very steep price increase will be worth the extra performance.
"Coupe" refers to the lower roofline, not the number of doors. How is a low-roof car with four doors an oxymoron? Surely something like the "raised coupe" that is the X6 is more of an oxymoron than this is
