I've just finished this kit, no aftermarket parts, and even with all of the pitfalls, it's a gorgeous model. I wish that I could send a photo, I even used the smoke ring decals.

Oh boy! Another kit I "need"! It looks beautiful, and I can't wait to see it on your bench! I have to agree with you on those tires though, looks like the crew chief wasn't doing their job servicing the tires. Sorry the Tempest is giving you a hard time. Looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for the review! I'm still not 100% convinced that the kit quality is up to the price they ask for it, but it is nice to have a large scale version finally. Seriously thinking to get one.

It is expensive - agreed but as you say it should make a nice model.

An impressive kit of the early Folgore. I'm not much for rivets on aircraft kits, if the manufacturer adds them fine but I don't go out of my way to do them. I was surprised at seeing the smoke ring decals included with the kit and here's hoping they work out for you.
@TheModelShed
@TheModelShed Год назад
Thanks yes I think rivets are a matter of personal choice. like you I can live without them. They’re generally hard to make out from a scale distance.

Thanks for the review. For me good riveting detail is critical, especially in a large scale. Other than that it appears to be a nice kit.
@TheModelShed
@TheModelShed Год назад
I know that lots of people look for them on kits and it’s a personal preference which is fine. Im less bothered about them and I’m still undecided about what if anything to add. I’ve looked through several photos of 202s and I can’t see any rivets on the airframe at all so it might be a peculiar construction method or maybe the airframe was puttied. I’ll investigate further before the build.
@SMAZVidoes
@SMAZVidoes Год назад
Thanks for the response. You may have a point on the puttied airframe. I am hardly an expert on Italian aircraft. Having rivets on the models a personal preference also. Kotare got the right balance on the Spitfire. I have built the Hasegawa Fw-109D and ZM Ta-152 and ended up riveting the airframe and they are very prominent on the real aircraft.

Has anyone noticed the port wing seems a little longer than the starboard wing? I believe this was done on the original to counter wingtip stall at low airspeed/high power combinations.

Thanks Steve, got the ICM Gladiator waiting! I wonder what the fit of this will be, I've only ever tried one Italeri kit, it ended up in the landfill, appalling fit!

I believe Pacific Coast did one, so did Special hobby. I must say, after watching this video and despite all of the interesting aspects of the kit, I find myself a little more underwhelmed by it. I’m not sure I feel any great urgency to buy one.

Thanks Mike that’s fair enough some things grab you and others don’t 👍

I don’t want to be a downer but I’m upset that there is very little rivet detail. Other than that the kit looks incredible and I would be surprised if there is any difficulty knowing how italieris Italian planes go together. I would also not be surprised if there is going to be aftermarket resin or 3d print parts to convert this into a mc 205. As well as wheels and wheel well details.
@TheModelShed
@TheModelShed Год назад
It will be to many people but I’m not too concerned about it. I’m still not sure if I’ll rivet this kit.
@jmatch3744

@@TheModelShed out of all the planes I think this plane needs it the least. The smoke rings will provide enough to look at while not making the plane “too complicated” looking. I’m excited to see the final product!

Are the ends of the MG's slide moulded? Can't tell from the vid, but the sprue looks like they might be. I was going to add this one to my wish list, until I saw the price! Wow, that's expensive for a 1/32 fighter!

Is it a video artifact, or is one of the MGs shorter than the other (like by 4-5mm)? Are you thinking to display the engine, or have it buttoned-up?

Iirc it’s the same staggered layout in the Bf-109 with the same inverted DB601.
