In this video I have a look at and build Italeri's plastic panzer III (Same model as the Warlord games version)
This tank is a 28mm or 1/56 scale plastic model kit for wargames like Bolt Action.
After I built the model I compared it with the panzer III by Rubicon models so if you're in the market for a panzer III check it out.
Assembly of this plastic kit was for the most part fairly simple and didn't take too long
I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed and frustrated by the tracks in this kit, but they turned out okay.

They are the worst.. Kit is a bit of a mess which is a shame for one its in the Afrika korps starter and two it's a cool tank

The domed thingy on the hull rear under the exhausts is the cover for the hole for the manual crank. I have seen lots of amusing images of hapless panzertruppen with the manual crank trying to turn over frozen engines on the Russian steppe. This looks like a nice model, but I think the roadwheels melded into the hull would be a deal breaker for me. I would have to build one with shurtzen.

mr erpaderp! i enjoy your kit review and build videos very much. i like the no nonsense approach. the most important thing about kit building is that (a) the build is enjoyable and (b) you end up with a model your happy with. I like the occassional mistakes as these are precisely the kind of error i make and thus valuable 'watchout for this' tip. there is a lot of 'professional' kit making on the web, and whislt aspirational are hardly useful to me as a general builder. good stuff mr erpaderp and keep them coming!

My dad and I have this model. I think it has really good detail and it was a very fun build.

The long-barreled J variant was present at the battles at El Alamein so a desert scheme can be used.

I would definitely choose the Italeri version over the Rubicon one, detail overall seems better on video.

The background music you use is lovely and is what Panera Bread should play. They should take a lesson from you.

The light on the front fender is a type of blackout light called a Notek. It is named after the company that produced them. The round ones on the fender with the slit on front were made by Bosch. The Notek light also came with a rear convoy tail light. If you were too close you saw a certain pattern of lights, if you were were too far away. If you were at the correct distance you saw a third patter of lights. Pretty sure the part at 13:29 is the latch mechanism to lock the turret door open. The radio antenna is on the right side. The long piece on the right side with the gun cleaning rods on top is the tray the radio antenna folded down into. Not sure why the gun cleaning rods are mounted on top of that.

Trust me, there's nothing wrong with your Panzer III's vision ports; it took me a whole day to realise that my Armourfast Panzer III didn't have any- I forgot to glue them on! So I went back to the model bench to fix that, but then I lost them...so I don't have any vision ports on it now!
@HerbertErpaderp

They would be pretty easy to lose. The positioning looks fine to me too.

I chose ausf n - l with schurtzen its good for supporting my halftracks and infantry. I like to use big cats as their own units and not be burdnend by having to protect the Infantry. I think tanks should engage tanks so my panzergrenaiders can do their job. And nice video keep it up.

nice model! about the shurzen, what is stopping you from making up a story like this: 'the crew of the ausf. J pz3 found a pair of shurzen from a wrecked pz3 and put them onto their own tank'' That covered light is called a Notek light BTW

Hello, Herbert :) Just want to point something in this build: You've glued bottom parts of tracks opposite. Italeri misnumbered them, and You didn't check it. Also, You didn't saw another thing, when filming road wheels on the sprues (from 2:51 to 2:59). Those on the right side are a bit further to the front than those on the left. So the track that You've glued on the left side should be on the right side and vice versa ;)

Hmm, Interesting and nicely spotted. It would have been really helpful if they'd been correctly numbered to begin with. Checking that a manufacturer has labelled their parts correctly isn't something I regularly do. Unless it's something super obvious. Ah well. Mistakes happen I suppose. I'd totally not noticed the wheels weren't the same. To me even on the video it looks a bit like they're just not aligned because of the flex the sprue has Hopefully others don't have the same problem as me then. I wonder if the same mislabelling is present in the bolt action version.

After building 3 italeri kits with this same exact problem, it is now almost expected of them.

@@HerbertErpaderp - i tend to agree. mistakes happen. and the emphasis surely rests with the manufacture to make sure their instructions are correct anyway or am i missing something!

Mr Herp, are you gonna upload a painting video? The Rubicon pz3 is suited for Afrika Korps. I'm highly enjoying your content!

Of this tank? Eventually. The video this week was actually meant to be a painting video of my Grimball's beasts infantry, but I couldn't get it finished in time so it's next week now.

German protip: "Ausf." is an abbreviated "Ausführung". Don't just say Ausf. Please don't. :D www.linguee.com/german-english/translation/ausf%C3%BChrung.html (Just click on the little speaker behind Ausführung for an example of how to pronounce it) Also, I'm pretty sure the thing on the side is a disassembled barrel cleaning kit :D Nice build! I could watch your videos for hours while building models at the same time. Really relaxing and informative :) Thanks a lot!

Pros of Italeri over Rubicon; everything that isn't the road wheels. Pros of Rubicon over Italeri; the road wheels. Difficult decision. Looks like you could probably fit the Italeri tracks to the Rubicon road wheels and suspension, then fit that to the Italeri kit though.
