Was gonna say something similar. He is going to own all the brick and mortars on the whole walk. So much so, he might start doing tourism commercials. Good on him though
Made this recipe EXACTLY as shown, right down to the particular kind of olives (don't have waffle maker so I served it over whole wheat capellini) and my daughter and I loved it so much we pretty much ate ourselves sick. Not so much as a single caper left in the pan. This channel is so awesome.
My fiance and I drove 1200 miles from Oregon in the beginning of April to try all of your restaurants. I ate 3 of the 4, one after another, unfortunately i was too full to eat a Graze. Enjoyed every bit of the food. looks like ill have to come back to finish what i started and now try Basta.
Loving the channel , have been watching for a few months , bbq season here in the UK , if it stops raining !! And loving trying the recipes , the whoppers where sensational and the masala was amazing ps it’s pronounced (Saul s bury) lol take care 👊
Yes I post my comments halfway through, However I watch all of his vids in their entirety . The guy is so entertaining, That’s it’s impossible not to watch it all the way through. “Italian Chicken and Waffles” 🎶 🎼 🎵 😂
I never understand why people are so eager to post before watching the vid. Especially when a video is posted 4 minutes ago, is 15 min long, and people say "omg great video" within the first minutes.
@@FortunePayback really? Olives, capers, onions garlic herbs. Only thing missing is anchovy and tomato, and anchovy is optional, its still "in the style of the whore". Yeah I think Ive made it a few hundred times
@@FortunePayback oh and lets mot gorget Bobby Flays Corn Meal waffle. Sylvias in Harlem, the originator of Chicken and waffles is probably barfing at this. Yeah its about as original as the food network.
BASTA! It's a beautiful place with amazing food! Meeting you for my birthday was THE best thing EvEr! I'm still so happy to have met you 😊watching this video, made me cheese from ear to ear!! Thank you, Sam (and boys) YA'LL ARE AMAZING! Ambiance, amazing. Food, mouth watering leaving you wanting more.. but YOU, Sam.. thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every time in San Diego.. going to your places for sure :) ❤
This looks like I'll have another recipe to try this weekend. My wife was the one who urged me to watch your video before I even had a chance to watch anything else. 😂😂😂
You gotta try these! As much as you love eggs, you really gotta try these deviled eggs. Even if you don't make a video of it, I'd love to hear your feed back on them. Peanut Butter & Horseradish Deviled Eggs... 1 Part Cooked Egg Yolks 1/4 Part Peanut Butter 1/4 Part Horseradish Sauce (I know you like straight horseradish - not sure how much of that to use if you sub) 1/2 Part Mayo Kosher Dill Pickle (small slices about the length of the egg and only about 1/4 - 1/3 inch wide) Smoked Paprika Sriracha Hot Sauce (or, in your case, you'll prolly use Cholula but the thicker Sriracha will present better for Max's photos) Slice hard boiled eggs lengthwise and remove yolks. Mash yolks with fork until fine. Mix in Peanut Butter and Horseradish Sauce. After PB and Horseradish are mixed… Then GENTLY mix in Mayo. - Do not over mix or it will separate!!!!!!!!!! Put mixture in eggs - I use a spoon for a rustic look. Yes Max, I push it off the spoon with my fingers... Sprinkle with Smoked Paprika. Add small slice of Kosher Dill Pickle on top of each. Zigzag Sriracha Hot Sauce on top. these!
Congrats on your newest restaurant, Basta!! How do you do it all?! Amazing! I sub'd when you had 30k subs. I love watching you... You're THE BEST! Visiting your Restaurants are on my bucket list. One of these winters I will travel from MI to visit sunny San Diego. ❤❤❤
Always remember to look for the "knuckles" when de-boning chicken thighs! Easy to get the bones, but also easy to miss the knuckles, and never fun to start chewing on them in a cooked dish. Make sure you have a great knife to help you out! *Hint hint* ;)
Just want you to know, Max, that I notice you trying new stuff in basically every video. Music, transitions, etc. Seems like you have a lot of fun with it. Good stuff. Chicken looks good as well, lol.
lOVE The "INSPIRED' right in the name on the shirt! Might want to make it a bit bigger, maybe italics too! 😅 Lots of times I don't want authentic, I want beyond authentic. Do you think I want "Authentic Chinese Food"?? 😲 No!!! I do NOT want a bunch of rice and vegetables and a Tiny Bit of Meat!!!😮🤬 I want a bit of rice, a bunch of Meat and sauce, and a LITTLE bit of vegetables. 😅 Do you think I want a "Italian style pizza" with Just some tomato sauce , a few discs of cheese and some basil leaves For Dinner? 😲 Heck No! that is a Appetizer! I want American Style Pizza For Dinner!!!!! 😁🤤
I’m still waiting on you to try Chicken Parm Cremera Pizza. Pizza Crust Tomato Sauce Alfredo Sauce Diced Grilled Chicken Mozzarella Cheese Parmesan Cheese Bacon Crumbles Roasted Garlic Ricotta Cheese Red Pepper Flakes Italian Seasoning The way I do it is tomato sauce on the crust then Alfredo sauce on top of that diced grilled chicken, Mozzarella, Parmesan, crispy bacon crumbles, and chopped roasted garlic. I like to add red pepper flakes, dollops of ricotta, and Italian seasoning. I’ve been asking since September 5, 2023
What are my chances of winning a knife? Not good... You mean not good like, 1 out of a hundred? I'd say more like 1 out of 3.72 million. So you're tellin' me there's a chance... YEAH!!!
First Recommendation 05/01/24. Today's recommendation 07/10/24. Re-posting each video because this recipe is THAT good: Chicken Enchilada Soup Dishes: Large Soup pot, medium pot for the protein & broth Protein - Chicken Breast, Boneless, Skinless, simmered in chicken broth until mostly cooked. Pull from the broth (saving the broth), and shred. Reintroduce to the final pot along with broth as needed. Spices - Cumin, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Cayenne Pepper, Smoked Paprika, taco seasoning, Souza seasoning, black pepper. Add-ins - frozen or grilled corn, black beans, black olives, 2 chopped / diced onions, 2 cans green chilies, 2 de-seeded and diced jalapenos, 1 can of rotel diced tomatoes. Sauce-Add-ins - Cream cheese, Sour Cream, Tabasco Sauce, Cholula Hot sauce. 2 large cans of enchilada sauce ( our favorite is Rosaritas). Prepare the protein in a separate pot / pan, once again, be sure to save the broth. Into the main soup pot, place non-sauce add-ins first and start a gentle simmer to get the onions and chilis sweating and start the flavor-mixing process. Lower the heat down to medium-Low and add in the enchilada sauce. Add spices and stir. Add tabasco sauce and Cholula hot sauce and stir. Adjust the spice levels of the chili powder, cayenne, cumin, and taco seasoning to point it's got a serious bite. This is when we temper with the cream cheese ( about half a package/bar ) and sour cream to temper it to desired spice level. Reintroduce the chicken to the main soup pot and add broth to desired amount. Readjust spice level intensity if desired. Remain on medium-Low heat for about an hour, stirring about every 5 minutes to keep the bottom from scorching. This requires patience, but allows all those flavors to mix and mingle together. Over time, this will likely lead to a very gentle boil. Serve with fresh cilantro, sour cream, and shredded cheese. You can also crush tortilla chips over the top for an added texture
With Sam saying "Basta" so much, I thought we were gonna get the Bust a Move lyrices going... BASTA! "Next day's function, high class luncheon Food is served and you're stone cold munchin' Music comes on, people start to dance But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants"
Did one of the boys ask ChatGPT to generate an AI "Italian chicken, and waffles" audio in the style of a 50's era American actress playing a part in a Hollywood musical supposedly set in Rome? Wait, I need to try this prompt out right now! Yup. LOL
We've had chicken n' waffles places here in LA for over 100 years, but I still can't put the two together in my head. Other soul food meals no problem. But this one? Nope. Anyway, my idea of waffles is to treat them like blintzes -- serve them with sour cream and jam.
Congrats on opening another business especially in the state you live. Wait did you say what I thought you said? Yikes...unfortunately 93X radio station a few years ago mentioned that. And, I looked it up after looking up BL.. TA.. I redacted it because its inhuman and unfortunate deviant actions of very deprived umm humans.
Nice job on opening a new gig Basta. We’ll surely try it out when we get down that way! I’d love to try this chicken and waffle creation! LOOKS BASTA! 🥰🥰🥰
I've never tried chicken and waffles because the sweet element wasn't appealing to me, but this looks fantastic. I wonder if this will finally get me a knife.
Was just down there. Saw Basta. Had no idea it was yours. Went to Samburgers. We did see you running from Not Not Tacos to Basta with a sheet pan though.
Sam your 1st video about the knife give away I posted a brisket recipe. I don't care about getting a knife. Don't get me wrong would love 1. More important, please try my rub and mop sauce. Thanx 😊
I am Italian. I am inspired. Thanks Sam! Also, was that song at 4:12 A.I.-made? I can't imagine there's an "Italian Chicken and Waffles" song, but if so I'll make a playlist.
In Spanish, “Basta” means stop . By the way ‘Tom Hanks’ , I don’t cook . However I show my GF these vids , So she can make them , For me 😁 So far , They’ve been fantastic ❤
"Basta!" is not exactly a nice term for a restaurant. It would be like opening a diner called "I've had enough of this crap!" Like some place you'd expect to be served school cafeteria style food or left-overs.
How fortuitous! Just watched this sitting in the ATL airport, about to board a plane to San Diego for a work trip. Hopefully I can come check out Basta!
I must be doing something wrong... every time i say BASTA! it's not teleporting me... Congrats and can't wait to go there when I travel to San Diego next year!
Marcella and I loved meeting you at Basta little more than a week ago! Great food, location, restaurant/bar! Now I am sorry I didn't order the Italian Chicken and Waffles!
Interesting. I would have never thought to add those ingredients together. Beautiful color! Never had chicken and waffles but I'd definitely be down for that one Sam!
Red lobster cheddar bay biscuit mix in the waffle maker is pretty spectacular, do that with a chicken fried steak! Ooh baby! If chicken and waffles are good, steak and waffles is better.
Sam this is mom’s account you’re her absolute favorite person on RU-vid, we’ve tried so many of your recepies. We live in Pa and are plan on a trip to Diego just to go to your restaurant! And we are Canadian too!! Keep it up!
I only discovered your videos after we moved from San Clemente to Colorado about 8 yrs ago so we can't take a trip or 2, or 3, to visit your restaurants. Someday......
Unfortunately i can't run by the new restaurant for chicken and waffles since I'm in NC. For my southern friends polenta and grits are pretty much the same thing. I think polenta usually has more of a yellowish color where grits are usually white. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
"Italian chicken and waffles" -somewhere in Italy, a nonna is screaming. Besides that, I think is an interesting dish, way more apetizing that the "classic" chicken and waflles, and definetly worth a try.
Sam is trying to make something new, unique and definitely delicious. 😋 I'd wish a lot more cooks would stop being beholden to the "traditionalists" and attempt something like this dish more often.
