The Lampredi engine was fabulous and with twin Webers sounds glorious, zero lag. If you are a quarter inch off the accelerator stop and you push even harder, the engine note gets harder still gets and you feel the extra horses snap in. I cannot think of a modern engine that feels anywhere as good. You know it's always on your side. :)
You're right. With a modern drive by wire car you have to request permission for more power from a computer. I prefer a greasy cable connected to a throttle butterfly.
Beta Montecarlo/Scorpion spotted 😊 Great platform for time attack, fast-road, or restomod builds 👍 Transaxle, rear suspension and brakes same as the X1/9 🤔 Block and 8V head, same as Delta HF and Ritmo Abarth 130TC. Therefore possible to use Bacci close ratio gearsets and LSD's inside the gearbox and diff casings already fitted to this Montecarlo. There is 16V head for this block developed originally by Abarth for the 131 Abarth Rallye - won the WRC. Later the 5-speed transaxle was replaced by a Torsen 4-WD system in the Delta Integrale and Delta S4. The 16V head plus 5-speed transaxle, continued in FWD applications eg Fiat Croma 16V and Lancia Thema 16V. Therefore possible to fit ITB's and a 16V head in this Montecarlo. Add a Rotrex supercharger and it becomes more like an 037👍👍👍 Honda K20 added variable valve timing, you could say.
there are other dohc heads produced for this engine... one came out in the fiat tempra and another in the lancia delta intradale and another was made by abarth... in fact, "3"of them were abth, a triflux, delta s4, ecv1... and There were also 8 valves, a Fiat version, a Lancia version and an Abarth version... the difference is that the Fiat ones are for the street and spin up to 5k and a half rpm... the Lancia ones are for the street and spin up to a 6k... the Abarth ones run above 8k
