Children of Bodom was my favorite band to see live. Sadly Alexi Laiho (composer, lead voclaist and lead guitarist) passed away in 2020 at age of 41. He was the best guitarist in the world. I have never cried over a celebrity as much as I did when Alexi died and I still cry sometimes when I listen to Children of Bodom music. Also there's a lake Bodom in Espoo, Finland. In 1960 four 15 to 18 years old teenagers was stabbed to death while they were inside their tent. Murderer is still not to be found.
Wintersun definitely belongs to this list. Especially after the new album "Time II" releases in August 30th. That release should have an immense impact and make the band a candidate for the greatest Finnish metal band. I urge you to react to the song "The Way Of The Fire" after Time II releases. It's truly a godly piece of music.
Top 10 Finnish metal bands for me in no special order; Amorphis, Wintersun, Nightwish, Insomnium, Children Of Bodom, Ensiferum, Stratovarius, Omnium Gatherum, Shape Of Despair and Sonata Arctica. I hope to see you react to at least some of these great bands! Some good ones to start with: Amorphis - The Bee, Wintersun - Loneliness, Nightwish - Sleeping Sun (original version/video). These three are just my opinions, you'll propably get some equally good recommendations from lots of people.
There are many opinions, but I think you should start with nightwish. with humor I say a little warning 😉, that Kaninkolo ( rabbit hole) is deep and full of surprises, and there is not a single bad song in their long career. If a song doesn't feel like yours right away, it will later. Be prepared that they don't have short songs. In fact, their longest song (The Greatest show of earth) lasts 21 minutes! it's one of their biggest hits. It's worth listening until the end, because at the end there's always something small, like thank you, etc. Actually, you should start following the list I gave from top to bottom, otherwise I can't advise. I got a lesson from you to only give two options at once😂 so that there will be no difficulty in choosing. don't worry, I have a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at myself. I'm not offended at all. life should not be made too serious and difficult.

Stratovarius is simply something magnificent. And so is early to mid era Nightwish, but mainly Tarja's era. So many amazing bands here in Finland. I remember my playlists having tens of thousands of songs in them and hundreds of bands. Most were some form of metal, power, speed, folk, melodic, and so on. But later came other genres. There was a time I was into chillout, goa, trance and so many more sub genres. For the past few years i have been into dubstep and many other things like it. But I haven't abandoned my old favorites. I basically omnivorous when it comes to music with few exceptions. Fast or slow, happy or sad, acoustic or digital, ir doesn't really matter. What matters is that it goes hard, it flies and it has real emotions and power to it.
In 1960, there was a murder in Espoo's Lake Bodom, in which three young people died, two 15-year-old girls and one 18-year-old boy. The deceased were camping together with one Nils Gustafsson. According to some theories, Nils Gustafsson, the only survivor, would have killed the others in his jealousy. but I don't believe in this theory myself. Nils himself has never confessed to the murder, and I don't selfishly believe that Nils was guilty, at least not based on what has been made public about the events. Gustafsson was later arrested on suspicion of the murders, but it has never been possible to prove that the murders were committed by Nilss. The name Children of bottom was connected to this in such a way that when choosing the name of the band, while scrolling through the names in the phone book, your finger happened to be on lake bomon and then you realized the connection of the name to what happened before Nightwish is of course a legendary Finnish band, but the question is, would it be there without singer Tarja Turunen? After Tarja's departure from the band, Nightwish has not been as original a band as it was in Tarja's time, the singing voice was just so unique.However, the popularity did not end with Tarja's departure, but the band sold the album Dark Passion day, sung by its new singer Anette Olzon, Platinum in her home country of Finland, all in all, the album sold in Finland by 2013 more than four times the limit of a platinum record (over 125,000 copies) and worldwide by 2011, the album sold more than 2 million pieces
My ex-wifes cousine Jani Liimatainen played guitar in Sonata Arctica. Now he plays with Insomnium. For me that list is not very accurate. Most of those bands are something that i´ve listened as i was young (like Stratovarius, Finntroll, Ensiferum) or that i don´t listen at all. Best of those were Children of Bodom (lake Bodom is in Espoo, Finland) and Insomnium. Jari Mäenpää from Ensiferum has better band called Wintersun that is so epic. There is tons of reactions for few Wintersun songs and people are usually amazed to see those. Noose is the first "hit song" that made Sentenced popular here in Finland. There are huge number of great metal bands in Finland. For example. Tuomas Holopainen, even tho he has been in Nightwish, He have also been in bands like Darkwoods my betrothed.
Insomnium rule! All albums Finntroll - Also all albums Korpiklaani - Hit and miss but mostly hit Ensiferum - Some albums are top tier, some are meh Sonata Arctica - Used to be awesome but I hate most of their albums Amorphis - Top tier! All albums though they change a lot, all their albums are worth listening to Apocalyptica - Instrumental stuff is decent but they often had songs with guest singers that were meh Stratovarius - Mostly hit, had a mid era that was meh, then they got really good again Children Of Bodom - Really good up to Hatecrew Deathroll then I lost interest in later albums Nightwish - Tarja era was decent. The rest is meh. Though Anette and Floor's other bands and solo stuff were great, the Nightwish era of these singers is ... *snores*
