Watching Luca rocking Luce brought to mind a sweet memory. I am 72 years old and remember the warm and secure feeling of my dad carrying me in his arms. Congratulations on all the work you are accomplishing, while caring for Luce. She is clearly loved.

Loved the tiles EXCEPT not in the kitchen. It’s better to have a more homogeneous background to highlight all the amazing colours in Italian cuisine and also because it’s a small space. It was too busy !

Making progress on the ceiling and painting the walls while Sara and Luce get stuck into finger painting....good stuff all around. Then, of course, the ritual cat feeding. I was just telling my husband that Luca's accent reminds me of his late mother, Pia. She was from Villa Basilica in the hills above Lucca. His father was from a smaller village above Villa Basilica but moved to Viareggio later as a teenager. I love watching the reno, but I love listening to the accent most. Reminds me of his mother.

The kitchen is really looking quite beautiful now and the reed ceiling turned out better than I thought...such a unique thing, even though it is an ancient technique from the Village and probably also from the surrounding villages as well. Very nicely done and working on ceilings is always hard work! Thank goodness you did this beautifully and it is now done! Enjoy your trip to Argentina and Godspeed that you are able to get everything done that needs to be accomplished there. Argentina is a beautiful country with lovely people.and I hope you also enjoy yourselves there! There's so much to do when we're young and raising a little one and then another little one. One day, you'll look back, like I do and wonder how did I accomplish all of that in one day? The reed panels add to the warmth of the kitchen. The new paint colour will add to that feeling of warmth and cleanliness. Then you will be able to actually use your kitchen!! That is a day to look forward to. I hope your journey to Argentina is a happy one. Enjoy the change of scenery and I hope you have a safe and happy trip.

I’ve been so charmed sharing your journey for however long it now is that I’ve been following you and I totally accept all the flow of your lives like I would that have any friends. I loved the growth of the house up in the hills behind Genoa and I’ve been enthralled by the whole Sicilian chapter. How much I’ve always wanted to spend time in Sicily! Do go to Buenos Aires, another city I know well and love, and complete your business there and return as soon as you can with beautiful little Lucia to Sicily to continue your lives there. I’ve made the mistake when trying to find the right white also. You have to look for something that’s got a little yellow or warmth in the white. The ceiling looks really great. I love the idea. You guys know how to work hard and play hard! Thanks for sharing. ❤️

I have used the rolled reed on a vertical wall. I did not attach the role to the wall first, but I used a staple gun to attach the roll of reed to a long strip of 1 inch wide by quarter inch thick wood piece and then attached it to the wall. That would work on your kitchen ceiling. It would be easier to apply and more sturdy. You’re working so hard.

I don’t think it’s a good thing to enable (by feeding them) stray cats to breed like crazy. These cats don’t have nice lives, carry tons of diseases and do a lot of harm to the local wildlife (decimation of local bird life). If you really care, you look after them properly (proper food and drink, immunisations, regular worm treatment, getting them neutered, etc.)

Good Morning > Sara, Luca and Luce. Looking so much better.... with the Tiles Painted! They had seen better days. It was time to upgrade. (There was Too many colors in the Kitchen... too busy. ) Clean and Simple, keep it simple. The kitchen looks so much brighter and bigger.

It's authentic. They grew up in homes with those tiles. I love that they aren't ripping out everything. Modern dates so fast where original reminds them of their childhood homes. Please respect their choices & stop being critical. It's not your home. When I lived with a family in Italy they had to get permission to remove a lemon tree bc they wanted to add flatlets to the main villa.. I love that the historical aspects are kept. That's why Italy & Sicily are so beautiful! Ciao
