His voice was shaky because this was the performance after he had won, it was 2:30 in the morning, and he was very emotional. He always is while performing, he sometimes breaks down in tears during his concerts. And I love him so much because of this. Not everyone's cup of tea, I undestand. He won't do great in ESC, but I don't think he cares, he wanted to win Sanremo.

Ok I read a lot of comments and I want to clarify, this IS NOT the final performance after he won, guys, there are no confetti on the floor and when he sang for the last time there were. That said I love Marco and the song and I hope he will do amazing and even if he won't then I hope he'll gain more fans and love from the people all over Europe.

What I find silly about Sanremo is that the winning song gets sung at least three times in the final evening, the last time being very late at night after the proclamation. In this last performance Marco was simply exhausted and it's a miracle he still managed to sing it that well. That said, this is not a song that can do well at ESC. It's far too complicated and convoluted, with difficult lyrics. He's got amazing vocals but only people who understand Italian and love Italian love songs will really appreciate. p.s. those autogenerated subtitles made a real mess of the lyrics.

i was waiting you for this, i'm italian and i'm proud for Marco this video is not one of the performances of the festival, here he had just won and sang at the end of the festival, as a winner, visibly excited and less precise. as for the songs that are not in one's own language, for me the problem is those in English: at first listening I let the music speak, then I try to understand the lyrics. if it is possible, try to listen to Let it be sung by Marco Mengoni with the Kingdom Choir in Sanremo festival, I think you may like it

Actually, even a native may confound these two sentences: "che ci rifanno due vite" "che giri fanno due vite" as there is only one slightly different sound of "c" and "g". The second one is the sang phrase which translates: "what turn two lives take" or even "how two lives keep turning"

The audience sang along with every word, but you can't hear that in this video...

Look this is not MY thing, but I think this is good entry especially this year full of bands, some wacky stuff and girl bops but very few ballads (some yes but not all will qualify). A charismatic guy with an emotional performance will do well in the final. Maybe not a contender to win but hey i've been wrong before.

I advice you to listen to the revamp version (Eurovision version). That is more compact and It has some more beats in order to make it more dynamic. It's more accessible I guess.

Rifanno is we redo or remake, but I think in the sense of splitting up… he does get very emotional. I just love Italian composition…💗

I have a discipline when watching Eurovision live (my general musical interests are hardcore punk rock and 20th and 21st century classical music) that I make notes on a song only while the three minute song is being sung and when I saw this at the ESC My response was "Oh he has trampolinists" It was as if the directors of that song felt that his voice and performance wouldn't be enough. I remember seeing a Così Fan Tutte and it was clear that the director didn't trust the music and singing to carry the interest of the audience so we had dancers and all sorts in the background which distracted me. The same with the trampolinists LOL

Making comparisons between the Maneskin and Mengoni makes no sense. It would be like comparing Sinatra with the Rolling Stones 🙄

I love your reactions in general, but this one was honestly quite bad, uninspired and uninspiring, sorry! First, you didn't realize that this performance was his winning performance, 5th time he was performing it in the Sanremo week, that's why he was emotional and skipped a verse for the audience to sing (and it was singing and could be heard very well, it must have been removed here). Also it was past 2am on the final night, imagine that. Second, you turned on *autogenerated* Italian subtitles that were not accurate to begin with, I assume you know with what kind of nonsense autogenerated subs can come up with, and then quite unnecessarily fixated on the lyrics with your, sorry to say, not even basic Italian. I'm not being rude, just sincere, as a person who speaks 5 languages, and who has learned another 3, a language teacher and a translator, I know very well what kind of level is when you can't recognize one of the 10 most frequent verbs in a language. Why do that, I honestly can't fathom. 99% of your reactions are smashing, but this one is unfortunately a fail.

I agree entirely with you. For me, appreciate that the vocals overall are excellent but this is just not a song I’m excited about hearing in Liverpool. But, there are probably only going to be 2 or 3 male solo power songs in the final (Italy and 1 or 2 of Switzerland, Cyprus and Greece), so I think it will stand out. Out of the 4 it’s number 3 for me of the male solo songs. It just doesn’t grip me. I would love Italy to send more songs like Måneskin and whoever did Occidentalis Karma. There seems so little variation in Italys’ entries for me and when the same thing comes again and again I just feel like there is a lack of the Italian broadcaster actually caring about eurovision itself. But, like I say, I can appreciate he has a great voice.

Why is this guy so concerned about the lyrics? He is not being judged on the lyrics at eurovision; I would think it would be his vocals and the song itself.

Thanks again, bias confirmed. Ever since Måneskin won I've been listening to a lot more Italian music, and was excited to hear this year's entry, only to be slightly disappointed when I did. There's nothing wrong with this really, but I already forgot it after the first listen, and will likely forget it again before the competition. It's not even bland or boring, I could happily add this to my Italian playlist, it just doesn't captivate me in the same way as many other songs or artists do. (To be fair this version is weaker than the one from before he'd won Sanremo.)
