you see these very old videos and its baffiling that these guys were very skillful back then. 1-2 balls, through balls, chips. Professionals are goina be good in any generation, but these guys are on the same level as todays generation.

That pass from Hitches through to Haynes in the first half, quality and awareness, goes to show football was the same game 54 years ago.

It's not like I really give a damn what u believe, but you can check the accuracy of my quotes very easily. Go on a search engine & type in "Matt Busby on Johnny Haynes", etc. You'll get direct quotes where Busby wishes that he had bought Haynes for United. You'll also get George Cohen saying "-over ten yards he was greased lightning." Bobby Robson also said that Haynes was the greatest playmaker he ever played or managed w/for Fulham OR England. Is that proof enough for you?

Thanx once again for all the kind words, mate. On Haynes: it's a damn shame that "fans" seem to be forgetting the great players of the past. Especially considering that it was Haynes & his agent that broke the max wage system. I'll answer the rest via PM.

I'm with you Legendfamily, you are on the mark as usual. Eusebio, I believe was on his way to winning the European Cup with Benefica, if not that season, then surely the following... Also... Sivori's goal... all very well, but how many other Argentinians or Uruguayians were 'guesting' for Italy?

Haynes looks slow in this vid because they used slower FILM back then. That's why the ball looks odd when it's moving fast. I actually SAW Haynes play play w/my own EYES; both for Fulham & England both. Haynes was as quick as anything, especially when seeing & making a key pass. & the Eusebio I'm talking about played @ the same time as Haynes; he played 4 Port. in the WC'66 Finals that Haynes missed due to being in a car accident. Which Eusebio r u talking about?

It's actually England, not a GB XI, but close enough mate. Yeah, as we've already said on here: that Haynes, Robson, Hitchens, Swan, etc., England lineup weren't exactly a bunch of poseurs IMHO.

the italian goalie was standing by his post when greaves shot for the 3rd goal. it was as good as an open goal.

LOjacono and Sivori were Argentinans. They played for Italy because their grandparents were Italian (supposedly). They had already been capped by Argentina.

But that England team of 1948 that trounced Italy in Turin by 4-0 was arguably the best.Italy had no answer to the attacking play of Mortensen,Lawton Finney and Matthews.

England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland are all against each other and are separated in football. this just shows how much you know about English football. absolutely NOTHING.

I can see from the vids that he is slow and runs around like a carthorse. Thats enough for me to over rule all those duds. Pele always praises England to win tournaments too over the last 20 years and it always amounts to crap. So he is the least qualified judgement wise. Franz is known for his sarcasm of all things English and Matt Busby no doubt had brain damage from Munich to make that comment if he ever did. And Eusebio....well he was about 6 when Haynes played. So doubt it.
