Yeah. I have nothing against Hurst but it seems ridiculous that he got knighted before Greaves (or Moore for that matter).

@@caeserromero3013 Ball placement made his corners deadly. Anyone might head one in, but such placement takes someone special. Adds to his greatness the fact he took the corners but not the penalties.

@@scottthefunk Absolutely not! Nothing wrong with being British and proud of it! Jimmy himself wouldn't have shied away from showing patriotism and nor would I! Britain's far from perfect but it still has qualities that make it great

Nothing wrong with the camerawork - the problem is in the edit. For example, the build up to Greaves' classic goal isn't shown.

@@elspencer6334 The camerawork is absolutely shocking- cameras are getting too close and then having to pan quickly to keep up with the action.

@@peezebeuponyou3774 Only shocking by today's standard, at the time we just accepted it, the picture quality has suffered over time.

Better striker than Kane and I rate Kane a lot; better overall player than Haaland with comparable goalscoring instincts. Certainly higher than £100m.

That's the Pyramid - the standard formation when football was first starting to really resemble football as we know it now. It fell out of favour generally from the 1930's after a big change to the offside law brought about the success of the W-M (partly because of the extra defender). Four man defences then became popular in the sixties, I believe after the Brazil '58 and '62 teams were so successful. All of this was happening on the actual pitch, but the old boys who ran the BBC insisted on displaying the team-sheets in the old pyramid style no matter what, based only on shirt numbers, at least until after the '66 World Cup (I don't know exactly when or why they stopped to be honest). I'll confess I don't know, but I suspect Brown and Mackay were the centre backs on the day and Mullery was in front of them in midfield, probably with Clayton (?) as a 4-2-4.

That doesn't mean they played that formation. It was just conventional to show a team set out that way on TV and match programmes.

He certainly did. Sometimes it gets forgotten behind his (outstanding) goalscoring record that he was also a fantastic footballer.
