"Google the cornrows"

Dude, just letting you know that your persistence over the cornrows comes across as blind American nonsense.

Bealham only gets his hair braided for games. He’s into heavy metal music and has long hair which is a bit of a liability as a front row forward. And he loves the tv show “Vikings” where characters had corn rows. So rather than wear a scrum cap, he gets it braided into cornrows a couple of days before a game and takes them out afterwards.

So you have to be careful with Google. The person saying they're from 3500 BC in Africa is a hair stylist. The fact they claim their article is fact check is shocking. There are small statues that date back 30000 years found in Europe showing braids. However academics state that this does not show they were invented there only that they existed there at the time. They have most likely existed in some form for 100's of thousands of years and are just show we all have a common herritage. No need for divisiveness.

I always look forward to your reactions, in a relatively short time I think you've developed a good feel and understanding for the game and how teams are trying to play and your analysis is great for someone who hasn't grown up watching/playing

Braiding and cornrows go back thousands of years before America was even a country and lots of cultures did it at the Battle of Thermopylae Persian scouts snuck up on Spartans and reported back to King Xerxes of the Spartans training naked and combing and braiding each others hair it framed the scout out how relaxed they were before battle. There are lots of historical examples greeks Particularly Spartans, Norse Vikings, Celt war bands, Native Americans all braided their hair although the first evidence found historically shows that braids were very common in Africa.

So cool to see an American covering rugby! The USA has so much potential and would love to see them enter the top 5 in international rugby. Would be so good for the game in general! Keep on keeping on bro!

The highlights and score on both this and the France game won't show how competitive these games were

Fun reaction video as always. Classic match. It's brilliant how much Italy have improved in the last couple of years, reaping the benefits of a properly set up academy system with a better flow of young, classy, beter coached players. You can see this especially at the level their Under 20s teams are playing at. My fear for them is that the Italian Rugby Union (President) has just dismantled them again which could hamper their continued progression. We need/want Italy to continue to play at this level, it's brilliant to watch!

I'm a white South African, I created corn rows during halftime at the 95 World Cup final as a form of stress relief.

Regarding the defending at about 22 mina the player is positioned where he is based on the numbers on side of ruck and also to defend any kicks if he went the side hansen was on he would leave th right side open and vulnerable to passes out wide or a kick. It's down to the two players letting Doris get an offload away through the middle

Just discovering you man, nice videos! Regarding the try at the end, the (fullback)your questioning of his position: he at that point of time is covering any kicks in behind his defence which is very important. That break with Conor Murray and Hansen was more the fault of double tackling one player, but at this point the Italians would be very tired because Ireland play so much possession (actually so do Italy). Seeing Hansens run is no easy feat when you have been out there 70 mins… Anyway, you have a new sub!

Like you said, the issue with the defence for the last try was that two players went to tackle the same man, Conor Murray, who offloads the ball to Hansen. Italy's fullback has to stay behind the line though to watch for a kick or a line break. What Ireland have done really well in attack is that they have run 16 phases in a row (as you can see on next to the scoreboard before they score).

The thing about anticipating the play when you tackle is trickier than it looks. Ball carriers in those situations try to "fix" defenders before throwing the pass. You can't just drift to where you think the ball is going because the pass won't get thrown until you commit to the tackle. And if you don't commit to the tackle, you'll get beaten on the inside.

I don't doubt that cornrows may have come from Africa, but there is no evidence that they did. There are many North European bog bodies 3,000 + years old that have platted hair, but I'm not aware of them having cornrows. It's possible for disparate groups of people to develop similar practises in isolation.
