In Jan '91, we moved from West TX to coastal VA...a whole nuther world for us. Been there two weeks and a threat of snow came along. Our phone rang off the wall with folks telling us to get to the grocery store and get what we needed. Jeepers! Thought I better go, even though we'd brought all our preps with us. The scene was ridiculous: cars parked everywhere, even on the grass; mayhem of folks running I/O of the store with carts at breakneck pace; folks fighting over this and that. I just pulled away and went home. Turns out, it was a dusting of snow which didn't even stick to the sidewalk, just the grass. I'll never approach any retailer again under any kind of threat. Get your preps, keep 'em rotated, stay away from the madness

I heard a man explain what happened when his country went into meltdown (Venezuela?) He said toilet paper and water was obvious, but after a few weeks it was baby milk and formulas that people would fight - and kill - for. as you said - Mothers who are breast feeding and suddenly cant get enough food or water cant feed their babies and so the family go in search of formula. And they get desperate, so yes, baby food is crucial - and might even be worth getting just as a barter item.

@@GotSomethingToSayYou’ll have to bypass your Insurance and use GoodRX or SingleCare instead. Check those out, they also have apps. You’ll pay (a lot) more but you’ll get them and have them without the red tape of insurance companies. It also depends on the meds and what class they are. My Dr wrote me RX for a year’s worth of two meds. (360 days) with a refill. I’m not sure if each state has their limits, you’ll have to check. I use different pharmacies depending on who has the best price and how far or convenient they are.

Every year can fruits and vegetables from our garden. There are 17 infants and toddlers in our extended family so we can a lot of peas, butter beans, okra, carrots, applesauce, strawberries, peaches, figs, muscadines and quite a few more types of fruits and vegetables. With no extra additives its very healthy and zero trips to the grocery store. They keep very well also. We're currently using out of a jar of sweet fig preserves that we canned in 2003. With two root cellars and four outbuildings almost completely full we eat a pretty good amount of canned food and it is much healthier than supermarket food.

Live in Jersey. During Sandy, the neighboring Township was aglow with transformers exploding. They all lost power. After Sandy passed, everyone in that area were going nuts to try and find anything in other townships. A year ago when there was a boil water advisory, I'd never seen water fly off the shelves so fast. And we weren't even in the area under advisory. So we had the ppl being affected coming over then we had the locals freaking out and buying it. Let me tell u fights broke out. Great video! I just saw an article on MSM homepage about uses for hydrogen peroxide. They said it is a good disinfectant. Also, I wouldn’t count on ATM’s. They have to be stocked and if no one is there to refill it you are out of luck. Stashing a few small bills at a time or more if you can would be a safer option. And it won’t take up as much space as any of your other preps! 😊
