It is a vehicle detection system. Presence and approaching detection, data counting, etc. It does not record, or pick up license plates as other "red light cameras" do for enforcement. Strictly real-time detection. Works by seeing large scale pixel changes against a known background image. So it can be a car, or a person in the video frame.
I am using Swann CCTV cameras. The video processor can accept any live video feed. It can use traffic grade detection cameras as well, but the smaller size of CCTV cams work better for a basement display. Easier cable hookup too. Thanks for your interest -Nick
