Here is a video on a gun I own and don’t know to much about other than its chambered in a 12g, it’s barrel length is about 14in-16in, it’s single action only, smoothed barrel, break action reload. It’s a fun range gun indeed. But for home defense situations ? There can be some obstacles you might face with this one, especially if you are not a seasoned shooter. Meaning you practice a lot ! Because under stressful situations you might forget how to operate normally under stress. But hey guys here’s another video ! Cheers ! Thanks for stopping by and god bless ! Any questions, thoughts, comments, or anything you have to say please say it below ! Thank you again and take care !

I have one of these, mine had an over 30" barrel and a modified choke, but I wanted it for a slug gun, so I cut the barrel to 20", recrowned the muzzle and put in a new front brass bead, then I had it drilled and tapped for a scope mount. I've also put a big ugly recoil pad on the butt, with a sleeve that holds 5 rounds. With a Brenneke Rotweiler slug, this is a shoulder bruiser. If you hunt when it is cold outside, the lever break action is very handy, because you can work the action even in shooters mittens..I've hunted on skis with this gun. I had a red dot on it but these days I've an old Weaver 1.5x shotgun sight with a long eye relief. Because it was a cheap used shottie to begin with, I have felt no qualms at "customizing" it. A great gun, just the way I like it and ugly as sin, but I'll never get rid of it. I also have a set of "gaugemate" adapters for 20 and .410, so this Model 66 shoots 3 calibers!

Great gun, period. My first shotgun 50 years ago as a kid for goose and duck. Even dove spooked after opening day flying 100 yards high are in range (I know, done it). Also good for high desert jacks on the run. Any POS shell runs through this long barrel, and does so well. And somehow recoil taken up well (feels lighter) in this design, don't know why. I will NEVER part with this great shooter.

You can get a 9mm adapter as well. Also 22lr, .410, 20 gauge, 357/38 sp. There may be more but I'm not sure. Chiappa was supposed to come out with .223 and other rifle calibers, but I don't think they ever did.

No problem man. I think there's also a .380 adapter.

Heathen Grind I’m looking into these adapters now I just didn’t know it goes into Pistol calibers. Thanks for the advice ! Appreciate it bro !

You can also get a pouch for the stock so you can throw an adapter and loose ammo in there. It can be like an apocalypse gun when you don't need your AR for some reason. Or it can just be a range toy haha.

Howdy,. I’m an old timer and I love that Ithaca. Sure would like to have one my self. I have two singles myself. One 16guage and a 12guage. A piece of friendly advice, I would avoid to much dry firing due to the design of the firing pin, you could damage it. Other than that with proper care it will probably last several lifetimes. Good luck and God bless. Old Timer

lloyd lamb thank you sir ! I don’t dry fire this bad boy to much but I do like how classic and rugged this 12 gauge feels ! I promise to take good care of this beauty and thanks for watching brother !

Dry firing anything is a bad idea, this is why snapcaps were invented.

Hmmm.. I have 12 gauge Ithaca M-66 handed down from my grandpa. (I’m a grandpa now). Looks like yours except the barrel is longer. I looked up the serial# on the Ithaca website and it says it was made in 1929.

It’s Old Timer again, I thought you might like to know if you don’t already, Ithica began production of the M66 series of guns in the 1960’s, so your gun is possibly 50+ years old. So be proud of it and take good care of and enjoy your gun and be safe. Old Timer

Is the model 66 worth 200 dollars? I found one but I thought to high. Wants to trade my double barrel and couple other stuff. Wondering double barrel worth more and my double is a Ithaca
@jdhenry6300
@jdhenry6300 2 года назад
Man, if you still have it, DO NOT trade your double Ithaca for the M66. Your double is worth three to five times more than a M66. I have a 66, great guns, good shooters, but in my time now, the 66 is only worth two to four hundred depending on condition. They're cool, and good shooters, but, your double is worth a helluva lot more.

If you are in the US, be advised any shotgun with a barrel less than 18" long and or an over length under 26" is considered a sawed off shotgun under Federal law subject to the National Firearms Act (NFA) and illegal to own without registering it with the ATF and then only if the law of the state permits sawed off shotguns. Possession of a not registered NFA weapon is considered a serious Felony crime under US law. Measure the barrel from the muzzle to the back of the breech. Legal length M-66 barrels do exist and it is not hard to swap out a bad one a longer good one. Avoid legal problems. Destroy any barrel that is under a legal length. Footnote: Possession of short barreled shotguns (and rifles) did not become a Federal offense until 1968. Prior to that many gun makers offered them for self defense and security work. Many people had one. The M-66 originally had several barrel length options. When the law was passed the US provided a short amnesty period for owners of NFA weapons and devices (including machine guns and grenades, anti tank rockets, etc.) to register them with the ATF or turn them in for destruction. Many did so. Many others went to jail later for not doing so. A lawfully registered NFA device or weapon may only be possessed by the registrant and fter re-registration by their lawful heirs. They may also be sold, but the process includes a special Tax and ATF approval as well as local law enforcement approval. Not relevant, but the storage and transport conditions for NFA devices is also Federally regulated, for instance: you may not store a crate of live hand grenades or some live artillery shells in your hall closet in an apartment building. The items need to be in an ATF approved explosives storage bunker, etc. You also may not just throw them in the trunk of your car. A specially constructed and well marked vehicle is needed for transporting explosives. Consult with the ATF for more details.

@@terryleef8308 i would take the barrel off and make sure its clean and not damaged bro. Super easy to remove the barrel. One screw on the hand guard and open the action and the barrel comes off.

Shotguns with a barrel length of less than 18" and overall length of less than 26" (including 18" barrel) are illegal for a private citizen to own in the United States under the National Firearms Act (NFA) without a tax paid registration from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A new tax stamp must be purchased before every transfer.
