While filing ITR a question is asked in ITR forms that - why are you filing Income Tax return, there is drop down in ITR and you have to select at least one condition before proceeding to file Income Tax return, now these conditions are changed for ITR filing for F.Y. 2021-22 & A.Y. 2022-23 through notification No.35/2022 and insertion of new Rule 12BA which brings clause (iv) of the seventh proviso to sub-section (1)
of section 139 which is discussed in this video
The CBDT has notified additional conditions under the seventh proviso to section 139(1) whereby return filing is made mandatory in case
a) turnover from business exceeds Rs. 60 lakh or
b) gross receipt from profession exceeds Rs. 10 lakh, .
c) The amount of tax deducted and collected in case of a person exceeds Rs. 25,000 (Rs 50000 in case of senior citizen of age 60 years or above ) or
d) deposit in saving bank account(s) is Rs. 50 lakh or more.
