It’s been quite a while since I have been to St Katharine’s Dock but it’s a beautiful place. We went to The Dickens Inn and had a lovely all day breakfast. It was quite a place to eat and drink, very calm and great interior and exterior.

Brought back memories. My Dad was one of the managers at the Tower Hotel right next to St Katherines and we would eat out many times.

It is nice area actually lovely stuff🎉

We bought a yacht from there many moons ago, and sailed a lot in Scotland, thanks for this.

They used to have sawdust on the floor a long time ago in The Dickens Inn. I don’t know about now but it’s lovely walking around there.

i do like it around there, my daughter got married on the bridge and then we all got on an old double decker and toured London waving at the tourists , it was like being famous for an hour!

Was in St Katherines Docks last Thursday after a workmate recommended it. Love hidden gems like this perfect for escaping the annoying family in Watford lol

This jogged a memory for me......pre covid I used to regularly take the train into London and explore for the day, I stumbled upon The Dickens Inn, what a fantastic spot a real hidden gem with an amazing atmosphere on a sunny afternoon. thanks Darren.

I've never lived in London but know about and have been a number of times to "St Katherine's Dock". I'm ex RN and spent many weekends visiting London while living in Portsmouth back in the 80s.

We visited St Katherines Dock last year when we stayed in the Leonardo hotel close by. Had a bite to eat at Cote.

Love Tower Bridge, even have a large picture of it with a London bus on my living room wall. You should do a Darren John art print with the Off the Charts logo over Tower Bridge as displayed at the end of the vlog. Good to see the Tower Hotel in shot. St Katherine’s Dock is a gem of its own . Looking forward to the Thailand and New York vlogs.

I know it well Darren and it’s one of my favourite places to visit when I’m in London. There’s a Tapas Bar that comes highly recommended and you can’t resist a beer in the Dicken’s Inn. On one visit a few years back, they were getting ready for the start of a round-the-world yacht race and I was almost talked in to signing up as a novice deck hand on a Transatlantic leg to South America on one of the yachts! My important other half thought better of that idea! 😊😂

I knew that was there as a non-Londoner but I did work in London for a number of years. It’s great. x

If St Katharine's is the place to be then have a think about doing the best walk you can do in London, Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge. Allow 4 hours, not because it is a long way but because of all the zigs and zags you are bound to take. Right near Canary Wharf tube is the Museum of London Docklands which is absolutely brilliant and free too. If you can't manage the walk then at least go there. Along the way to Tower Bridge you will pass all manner of old warehouses which are now posh flats. Then there are the pubs such as The Grapes owned by Ian McKellen. It was one of Charles Dickens' many London watering holes. Old Charles liked his beer. Then there is the Prospect of Whitby where William Bligh and Fletcher Christian drank their last beer together. You can see and walk the same stairs that they took down to the longboat as they set off for Tahiti. Nearby is the Captain Kidd pub outside which famous pirate Captain Kidd was hung in 1701. If you can manage a short walk inland there is Turners Old Star, the pub that Joe Turner bought for his mistress in order to give her something to do during the day. Eventually you will wind up at St Katharine's and there is a tube station only two blocks north of where DJ stands at the start of the clip.

Love St Catherine’s Dock one of my little getaways when I used to live in Lee Green. It really is one of London’s little secrets. Some great food and drink dining areas too👍

Had many a work's pub crawl has pass through there, The Dickens Inn... nice in Summer with all the flowers, almost like it as much as The Mayflower, which is generally pretty quiet.

Back in the 1970's when I worked in an office in Pepy street we often went of a Friday lunch time to the pub there. Back then there were a few famous boatss in the dock. one was a light ship and another was a boat used in a solo round the world voyage. Looks like it has been gentrified a little more than back then.

I live in London,know about it and have visited it several times.

Got to say last visit to London maybe 10 plus years ago found a fabulous little coffee shop near Adramality Arch after watching Trooping The Colourrehearsal Amazing friendly service only had cappuccino and a slice of home made apple cake, sensational 💋💋🥰🥰❤️💯🌞🌞

Great area for a wander around St Katherines Dock and Wapping. One of my favourite films - The Long Good Friday, with Bob Hoskins, was filmed in that area in the late 70s. As other people have said in the comments The Dickens Inn is great for a beer and some food.

As soon as you said tower gateway I knew you were going to say st Katherine’s dock, I went there last year a couple of times on my bike, I only know about it because I used to empty the bins there years ago when I worked for bywaters , stunning place ❤

Good stuff,live just down the road.Nothing better than a walk over the Bridge around the dock,couple of Ales then off to Ginger Pig at Borough for the greatest Pasty ever with a couple more Ales.Then walk up to Indian 2 to round off the perfect day.

Hi Darren I agree with you its so peacfull and quiet what I liked about it was you could have some lovely food and a drink and you would not notice you were in London at all you could be in some lovely European. The only way you were back in London was when you come out of St Katharine Dock and see the Tube Station. Again thank you 10/10

St.Katherine Docks is known to boaters as London's premier marina, I've drunk in the Dicken's Inn and it's all very pleasant but also upmarket, bear in mind that their clientelle in the marina are all millionaires. You won't be going down there for a bag of chips.

Used to enjoy walking round that area during a lunchtime as I used to work near Aldgate which isnt far. Nice set of shops and places to eat/drink in there. I thought it was St Katherines Dock but prob wrong lol Regardless its a lovely little place. Shhhhhhhhhhh

Hello Darren, 30 /40 years in the making. I went to to the "Dickens Inn" way back when 👌👍🔙nights out and change from a £ niffty. Happy memories. If I remember correctly I think Barry Foster got shot by some crooks, right in front of the Sweeny ( Jack Regan & George Carter) And again if memory serves me right. The film " to the devil a daughter " also shot around there. Just a question. Why do you drop the Saint??. Keep 'em coming, even us locals don't know it all. Allan&Family

I’m from Manchester and I know we went in the dickens inn for a drink I’d have my London flat there I think. There or thst private road by James blunts pub. Other than that you can keep it. Cheeers.

Hey Darren. I as Londoner I've known about St Katherine's dick for a while as I looked at buying a live aboard boat moored there maybe 10 years ago but realised no mortgages available to buy the boat and the mooring fees are eye watering there!
