Oh man, this "It's a Wonderful.." system is clearly super versatile. The first two look super cool but also different. Really interested to see what they come up with next!

I must say the new bluffing mechanic really adds a whole new layer of depth to the game and prevents it from just being a reskin of its predecessor. I love the idea of headgames like that where you're trying to see if you can sneak something past your opponent and you become paranoid wondering if they did the same to you.

The bluffing mechanism can easily decide the winner esp when the calamity cards are used. There is no way to remove them unlike the menace cards.

I'm sold. I love the "I cut, you pick" mechanic. What 7 Wonders Duel was to 7 Wonders, I feel this is to It's a Wonderful World.

Thanks for the video! I love the original game but I'm not sure the addition of "attack" cards will necessarily conquer the hearts of all the care bears out there. Also the "I split you choose" mechanics and bluffing aspect are interesting, but I can't see how that would work for the solo variant...

So, more interaction, medieval version of IaWW , and strictly duel or solo? Very nice :D Interesting. Hope they add campaigns, because the ones for IaWW were wonderful, each one (war and peace, and Culture and decadence . And the expansion with just extra cards (corruption and ascension) added a lot of replayability and yet was still balanced.

I felt like It's a Wonderful World was missing something.. And it felt really repetitive and very luck based. This one really makes it interesting. The way you choose your cards, the soldiers to eliminate those giant rats. This is one to keep in mind! Thanks for the very good playthrough, Jon! Really enjoyed watching! 🙂

Honestly, I can't really say. If you didn't enjoy World, I think it'd depend on why you didn't enjoy it. The big change here is I-split-you-choose instead of hand drafting.

nice play through. I really like the original game, but this one seems different enough that I am now interested in it. And at the end of round 2, you also had a -5 frost giant, so you had 10 soldiers of "bad guys" already. this would have been a really neat game to see the rest of, as the two players took very different routes. good job.

I'm glad you found this informative. I have to admit that it was difficult trying to play this one out two handed. "Trapping" myself and also guessing and second guessing myself to show some realistic gameplay was more challenging here than normal.

@@JonGetsGames Yeah, bluffing yourself when you know all the cards is kinda silly. The mass of cards you took with the 2 menaces was interesting. As you point out, you get more resources than your opponent, but dealing with the rats is particularly troublesome as they multiply. You would need to build a lot of soldier cards to keep them in check. Your opponent could mostly build resource/point cards. It would be interesting to see how it would play out. Thanks for the playthrough. I like Its A Wonderful World and have played it several times.

@@derwoodbowen5954 Yeah, the Frost Giants don't seem that bad. They don't do anything except not let you complete a building until you pay the 5 soldiers, but you can simply put them under buildings that don't give you any immediate benefit anyway (like end game scoring cards, so you're not losing anything in the mean time), and once you collect the soldiers, get rid of them with no harm. The rats, though, continue to multiply and if you don't get rid of them ASAP, it will be increasingly harder and harder, and they will cause more and more negative effects. Those don't seem balanced that well, at least against each other. I can't speak for the other menaces.

Thanks, my 2 cents... by placing the your trap token on the card/s you decide to trap you still be able to identify them and only you check them later. this is better then having to remember which is which

That sounds like a great no-memory variant, I'll keep it in mind if I ever end up playing this with others.

Agreed, though this one was really taxing mentally for me to simulate. Trying to trap myself and out flank myself was difficult!

I was expecting a game similar to their previous one, but it apparently is a bluffing game first and a Wonderful World second, so not for me. Pity, I had high hopes for it. Thank you Jon for another great video.

25:53 Forgot to put the soldier which is currently in the camp for demonstration purposes back to its original location - since you do already have a soldier and do not need to add one to your camp).

We did actually get a supremacy bonus there, it wasn't just put there for demonstration purposes.

I am a big fan of It's a Wonderful World. How different or not is this from the original game and its two expansions?

Considering this one uses "I split / you choose" instead of hand drafting, I think there is a decent difference. This one is also 2 player only. I haven't actually played a full version of Kingdom though to make a real comparison on how different it actually feels.

It's a Wonderful World became an immediate evergreen for me, sadly I am less keen on I split/you choose as well as take that/bluffing mechanics, so passing on this one.

I honestly didn't read the rules to it, though I imagine they are posted on the KS page for you to read.
