Hey Mick, thank you for taking genuine care for releasing these fish, been following for long time and had seen some shitty release in your past vids, but, thank you this shit keeps me watching, our little local haven is great😊
G'day Mick, Kirk here from Darwin. Awesome to hear about the technical aspects of your combo's, I never went that far but definitely support having one rod for each fishing style. Was also wondering whether we'll see you using the live sonar ?
Thanks Kirk, appreciate the comment mate! Glad you like the more technical aspects! I’ve been using the livescope a bit but I don’t want to go into it too much yet as I’m far from being good at it… I’m fully self taught with it so I’d prefer to get it dialed before I start utilizing it in the videos…
It’s nothing to do with the reel and everything to do with the braid type and guide type. I run a coarse braid for better abrasion resistance and that coupled with extra hard guides makes that extra zippy sound.. the way I mount my cameras accentuates it too 😅👌🏻
Thanks mate, glad you liked it! I used to run one but it was crazy strong and extra fast action and taper. It’s a proper big fish rod! Personally for barra, especially big fish that I’d use that on, I’d prefer a slightly slower taper that’s why I went up a power and down 2 models in the Dobyns to keep the fast action in the tip but a slower taper so the rod folds away and loads up easier.
@@Micksgonefishing thanks mate. Yeah I've got a 704C which I only use for throwing heavier lures and I agree she's a bloody hefty stick. I've also got a 702C that I've matched to an Abu zenon X and it's the nicest combo I've ever used. So powerful yet still light enough for smaller plastics and hard bodies and I can comfortably sling it all day.
It’s all practice mate, baitcast reels offer superior control on the cast and more power under load when winching fish in! Definitely worth putting the time into learning it!
@@Micksgonefishing thanks mate, I got a 50 on my renegade, gets to 50 but take a while and trim it out a fair bit, was just curious to difference between 50 n 60. I take it your running standard alloy 12 pitch??
@@Micksgonefishing unreal how the difference goes we ith props, so the half inch smaller diameter but 1 bigger in pitch is slower, that must mean it's not reving out, anyway 50 is good as long as it's gets up quick, cheers mate, looking forward to seeing you out on creek someday.
@@Micksgonefishing love your work, have learnt a lot from your vids and how you use your sounder, a townsville area vid one day would tie it all together for me haha
Mate, great info on what Rod does what with different LB’s, Tip action when ripping lures was great and super made a lot is sense with a returning Rod tip each time you rip a Lure through. And also Leader stretch with the RC. I’m using the Nomad and lovin it, especially on a couple of Dam Donkeys last few days. Swingin through your way on way back, after the rain that’s looking like falling there at the moment. Hope to run into on the water somewhere mate. Lookin at 24 for another PNG Trip also!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the tech talk! I’m keen as for PNG but can’t do it without the covi vax just yet. As soon as I can get in those black bass would wanna watch out 😅💪🏻
