Remember when the special edition codexes came with faction specific tokens and fun extras like art prints and stuff? Now you get a different cover. I don’t understand how people can justify spending that much money on a rulebook with such a limited lifespan.

ya its pretty pathetic, at least with 10th edition 40k there were some other cool trinkets included. this is just GW charging $170 for a book that will be available for $25 for the next 3 years, as everyone parts out skaventide in mass... but the cover lol lazy company, bad business, going to be reflected very soon in the stock price IMO

There is a big demand on these. If you dont collect many but and sell with profit even If you only get 1 copy nowadays per person. Likely 3/4 are sold to bisnes people.

ya i like the LE stuff, but the prices have gotten crazy. its cool when they include extra stuff, like the morvenn vahl set, but selling the same rule book, that was already massively over produced for an extra $100 because its limited, and has the old cover... insane.

ya its a crazy price, considering the new edition rule book will be selling for like $25 once everyone gets their skaventide boxes, and starts dumping all the extra books.

As you can see in my videos, I present the idea that GW have been going downhill, but Skaventide has officially broken the downward trend and we migh do well depending how July goes. I hope Spearhead convinces new people to play AOS.

it has literally nothing to do with skaventide, which has not done well. it has to do with the Pre-Earnings announcement report, my friend. GW announced pre-tax income of 200m GBP, compared to 2022 earnings of 170m GBP. which means after taxes roughly 150m GBP net income for 2023, which is up about 16m GBP over 2022. this is an increase in net income of about 11% YoY. which basically coincides with the price increases, that GW has passed on to the consumer. so essentially they are selling the same, or less product, at a higher price. which is manufactured growth, based on pricing power, and unsustainable. this is extremely bad news if you dig into the financials, as the release of 10th edition warhammer 40k is by far their most profitable venture. while it is good to see growth YoY, new editions come along every 3 years, so if their primary product, and new edition launch, barely moved the needle, one could conclude that they have likely peaked. with no other substantial launches in the future, and an underwhelming AoS edition launch, the next 2 years are going to be painful. we also see that the previous edition of AoS Dominion box marked the peak, of the all time high Price in the stock. with a sharp steady decline starting shortly after. this coincides with a lower high on the stock price, correlating to the leviathan launch box, and the steady decline leading up to Skaventide. so my prediction is the opposite, of yours. the downtrend has not reversed, its been 3 years since the stock price put in a high, and more likely than not, we can expect a steady decline in stock price, over the next 18 months, as we have seen with GWs previous edition product launch cycles. not to mention the rapid increase in GWs dividend payments over the last couple years, drove the stock price higher, and for the last two years GW's Dividend payout ratio has been roughly 130%... which means we can expect them to inevitably cut the dividend, causing a sharp drop in stock price, as is proven historically by dividend cuts. but thats just my take based on 20 something years of doing financial, fundamental, and technical analysis. cheers

This is the only reason why I bought skaventide, was for a Mordheim skaven team, with a duel purpose of my first all in one AoS starter set that is fully playable combined with the 75% savings. I don't know anyone that has AoS models in my local area, but the idea of Broheim and me picking up an old copy of a 1999 Mordheim book made me want Skaventide.

they are def on the decline, selling less product, and making up for it with increased prices. this is how declines start. then pricing power runs out, they cut the dividend, and then the stock price crashes. but we can just wait and see. but i do agree sigmar is far less popular than 40k. but GW should/does know that, which is why its idiotic to overproduce it, just like they did with dominion, expecting to be able to dump the overproduced boxes on FLGs... again. but i dont mind it, the box is great, and i cant wait to get more, at half the price!

@WarHammerMan I think the skaven are cool AF. They'd probably be the only reason I would ever look at AoS. And them selling less is certainly in part to their dumb AF social media manager and how they have handled recent turmoil. IDK if they've fired that idiot yet but they had better do it soon before they damage the brand any further 🤦‍♂️

I’ve been collecting quite a bit over the last couple years and yet have never played a game of AoS in my life. With that said, 4.0 looks very fun and quite easy to learn. Watched Vanguard Tactics do a “how to play” and was very impressed with how easily it flows from phase to phase. Just need someone on the Big Island to battle against!

new edition, and game mode is the best time to start! clean slate!!! i'm sure there are lots of players, even on an island. if not i'll be glad to fly out for a vacation, and get in some games, if you dont mind a roomate for a few days! never been to Hawaii! lol cheers

Can anyone explain why Skaven wear, or are sculpted with clothes? Armour, I can understand, but not cloaks, dilapidated or not, makes no sense to me, especially when they have a fur coat underneath that protects them. Funny.

its to prevent chafing, the same way you put a cloth between a horse and its saddle, or your dangly bits, and a cod piece. hair/fur is a good start, but when it comes to protection, better safe than sorry! but thats just my take. plus it makes them seem more humanoid, and less like big rats.

i havent bought the skaventide box set because GW burned me with making the old SE models obsolete. But the rats do look so amazing that i'm tempted to buy. I'm going to wait and see if this box set gets sold at a reduced price like the age of dominion box set.

To be fair, the skaventide box is objectively a pretty good value with some super high quality models. GW does a lot of bad but that box is pretty solid

they didnt actually make the old models obsolete... they just made new versions of the same units (for the most part) you can literally use the old models, with the new rules, with zero worries. but i get that the clickbait videos, and community uproar tricked a lot of people. the new box is great, and i'm always happy for new sculpts, especially for the skaven which are far older, and out of date. i agree though, there will be lots of good deals on skaventide, since it was so massively over-produced!

@@WarHammerManDo you think they produced so many of the skaventide box sets as it comes with the 2nd game spearhead . We know GW didn't want what happened with combat patrol to happen with spearhead . Maybe early sales haven't been as high as they hoped but to ensure they didn't have another Dominion issue they allowed for a long run on skaventide launch box , hoping that spearhead will take off and keep the boxs value and not end up reduced.

A lot of older players dont buy new stuff. A $70 rulebook that will be invalidated in two years, plus $50 codecii that you need multiples of to even understand the game, i.e. so that you dont get schnockered by your opponent. Gotcha rules, and the game being filled with exceptions and weird hand-wavium rules that seem to materialize out of nowhere. Badly laid out books (it took forever to understand command points and strategems because the rules are buried under paragraphs of chatty fluff, and I still dont understand from what orifice you're supposed to pull command points from, but somehow they just materialize?) The prices are insane, the kids cant even think about approaching the game these days, its going to die soon. Sure I know they just had a huge profit share with their employees, but I think we'll see a huge downturn in the next couple of years as independent alternatives and cheaper miniatures along with 3d printing kill GW by a thousand cuts. Moreso now than ever is this a possibility.

Youngest player in the 3 stores we have here is 28. And he is only in the game , because his two older brothers and cousin played too. The avarge age of player here is over 35 years .

they have little legs, takes a lot longer to get here! but seriously they will start announcing a bunch of stuff soon, for 40k, necromunda, and old world, probably the new warcry box as well. just didnt want to cannibalize the sales from AoS, since there is so much overlap between customers! the dwarves are coming! i hope we see chaos dwarves previewed soon as well!

@@concernedearthling3353 ya i think old world was very poorly handled. they have paced it very slowly. i would have much preferred they did less for each faction initially, but more factions. i think they underestimated its popularity, and that has resulted in a lot of shortages, and angry people. They probably just looked at it as a quick money grab, but there is def some small pockets of interest around the globe. glad you guys have a thriving community. we have had zero interest shown locally

they arent actually out yet, thats why. wait like a week, and then check out facebook groups, or trade forums, there will be a flood of them, at a great price. i already see them for super cheap on ebay!
