I saw the original and liked it, and I saw the first episode of this one and liked it. It's not perfect, but it's such a relief to see some proper drama instead of family-children's drama about time travellers and magicians.
This is the remake of the 1970's drama originally shown on ITV which starred Frank Finlay and Susan Penhaligon. It was based on the novel written in 1969 by Andrea Newman. They did the second series called Another Bouquet which also starred Frank Finlay.
Was there ever a cinema ad for DEMONS? I have seen ITV cinema ads for Married Single Other, The Whistleblowers, Kojak, Trinity, Pushing Daisies, Britannia High, Emmerdale and Supernatural. (in the last 5 years) The marketing material for Demons mentions a cinema ad- but I never saw it? Perhaps it was in a film-specific package with only 1 film.
Watched the first part last night. Sorry but the original eclipses this. The acting and atmosphere are way superior. Its such a great story. Frank Finleys performance just could never be surpassed by anyone. Sorry but the new version just doesnt do it for me.
Totally tabboo busting drama. I never watched the '76 version but this remake was quite intense and dramtic. It's strange how it makes you care for the characters. Normally you would be revolted by them in real life. There were a few scenes that didn't make sense. Such as how did the Father lose his job, and how did the secretary get his job. Perhaps I blinked for too long. No doubt the full version will be available on DVD.
too young to follow the original series, but found the storyline intriguing, and would love to see the '76 version to compare. And yes, all round good performances, but Trevor Eve's crying the in car scene was cringe-worthy, though I guess that was the point; when a person breaks down they lose all sense of dignity
The original "Bouquet" was a one off piece of excellence. Why try to put a modern spin on on something which is timeless viewing? The original casting was right on the money. The latter, very poorly cast, in my opinion. If it ain't broken, why endeavour to fix it!
Every character is an irrational,unsympathetic,despicable,selfish,sociopath......there’s a certain amount of suspension of disbelief needed for fictional drama but this is torturous to watch when you want everyone to get murdered!
GOD!! How utterly disappointing!!!! Not a patch on the original........nothing like the book...........amazed Andrea Newman had any say in this. A load of garbage>
Insufferable, retarded ,melodramatic plot that makes American soap operas like YnR seem like Tolstoy..... fuuuuuckung stupid and every character deserves to get murdered!!! So dumb it should be USA cable channel like “lifetime “ or “hallmark “.........fuuuuuuucking insultingly stupid!!!
