Yup gone are the days of genuine Saturday afternoon, and in some cases working calss sports. I mean who else would have covered lumberjack championships (log rolling, log cutting), demolition derbies, Hot Rods, Super Stocks, cliff diving from Acapulco. Need I say more!
Steve Davis completing the first ever televised 147 break. He won a Lada car. Imagine that now. Ronnie would deliberately miss the black so that he didn't have to be seen collecting it!
I miss those years gone by on a Saturday afternoon, would wait until wrestling, and watch kendo Nagasaki, I miss that theme tune and studio set, preferred World of Sport to Grandstand, once meet Dicky Davies arriving for the programme at what was LWT in the car park on the South Bank studio complex, such wonderful times at LWT 👌.
I much preferred World of Sport to Grandstand. I wish I had seen the edition with Eric Morecombe. I used to laugh at the old Granny's in the front row of the Wrestling, with handbags at the ready in case the baddie came over the ropes. Cheers.
