Itzhak's performance as 'entertainer/artist/musician' is complete. "Sightread, schmightread' --it's about, 'practice, practice, practice.' But when you see that blissful smile, you know he has played this piece as thousand times. He disarmed their expectation with humor (schtick). He opened them up so they could be moved from laughter to tears. That is artistry at its highest level -to be aware that the instrument you play is made from the emotions you trigger in the audience.
OMGoodness! This just popped up on my screen as I logged onto RU-vid. I watched this performance live from the White House....1982!! This is some blast from the past; I tell you! 😳I set up my VCR (which does not exits anymore), and recorded it. I threw away the VHS tape of it during the summer of 2022 when I decided to get rid of all the VHS tapes. Ken Noda played Chopin's Ballade No.1 in G minor. One of my favorite pieces by Chopin.
I'm learning this piece right now and this video is officially going into my favorites! It's the kind of performance that both encourages you to practice while despairing you because it's so good...
This is amazing. When I was learning this piece, only a little while ago, I would watch this non-stop. My mum always wanted me to play along... but I said I couldn't spoil Mr. Perlman's performance! Lol. Anyway, great piece (once u can play it!) - it's extremely hard!
Possibly one of the greatest violinists of all time... He makes the most fiendishly difficult virtuosic pieces sound as effortless as Twinkle twinkle little star... A great virtuoso and maestro
Wow, best version I've found on RU-vid! Can't take my eyes of the pianist, though XD I think it's the combination of passionate head shaking and long floppy hair XD
