The MV is basically about two marginalized people (IU is deaf and Tae is blind in one eye) who are persecuted for loving each other. It's basically a metaphor that "different" people can't love each other. At the end, when IU realizes it's the end (because the cube was going to disintegrate them), she covers Tae's one eye so that this won't be the last glimpse of their life together. If you watch, IU squeezes Taehyung's shoulder 3 times while he desperately holds her hand (9:28). 3 squeezes is a common non-verbal sign to convey love to your loved ones. "Three squeezes means 'I love you'"

Bro, i literally just finished watching like five different reactions to this song and the last one i watched gave THE BEST MEANING OF THIS SOOOONNNGGG! So, supposedly the cube (DOWN WITH THE CUBE) is society pushing away (or absorbing) all the people who arent apart of the "norm" or who society thinks isnt normal (Such as IU who is deaf and V who is blind, this could go with anything such a people with down syndrome or autism) and they where running away from this society (As to the abandoned building) they find the camera which shows them as if they were society's "normal" and eventually they get so into it they hope that IU and V can sing and one day get married but as soon as they get hope society finds them and they try to run but society still finds them so they try damaging it (i dont remeber the meaning about this one sorry😅) but no matter how hard they try theyll never seem normal to society so, society ends up taking them away. (I tried explaining this as best as possible so i hope this helps explaining it)
