It has been a long time since I have watched IU Straight No Chasers. They just seem to be better every time. They have a great sound and always seem to be having a wonderful time. Thanks for the posting.
This band is called "Another Round." Its the same program that produced the group "Straight No Chaser." The collegiate group used to use Straight No Chaser through the generations of the a cappella group until the second most recent group gave it national attention and took it on the road producing several albums. They kept the name and have it licensed to them. The Indiana University group now uses the name "Another Round" for its program for a cappella performances.
this is the college Acapella group known as Straight no Chaser. the Group with the same name and a record label was originally a acapella group from Indiana University. and then they got together years later.
So I think I just learned a surefire way to instantly fall in love with like 10 guys all at once. Watch an a capella Disney medley. BAM. And if I'm not in love with them by the beginning it happens when they do Go the Distance. GUUHHHHH.
you guys are really awesome!!!! i really wish u could come to buffalo NY or i could go somewhere to see you guys live!!!! i love all your songs!!! and im always singing them
This is the school where the original group had their start, so the school can still use the name for their acapella group. I think the school has a license on the name.
Straight No Chaser has continued at Indiana University with different members over time since the original ten graduated in the late 90s. The original ten members reunited several years ago when offered a record deal with Atlantic. This group must be students in a more recent lineup. They're not quite as crisp as the professionals.
This is this is the College version of Straight No Chaser, not the professional version. They are all students at IU, and are a continuum of the original group which was formed in 1996.
yes it is. just not the straight no chaser you're used to. "straight no chaser" is the name of the a Capella group at their college. it changes every year. The group you're thinking of just decided to keep singing together
@afigurl632 I've already watched their video, thanks! I was just asking that 'cause one of them really looks like one of the Doo Wop Shop !!!! ^^ Excuse my mistake,I didn't know where they were from! I'm not American, but French !! :$
Cj Hirsch The order is Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, The Lion King, Hercules, Aladdin, Tarzan, Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, The Lion King, The Hunch Back of Notre Dame, Hercules, and the last one is Pinocchio.
Even though I love Disney music, and I love the group, I don't think the two should mix, eh, sorry everyone one in cyber world if u don't think I should post. Please don't comment back... Beside it only my opinion.
No they aren't. This is the legacy group that continued on at IU after the original guys graduated. They have since changed their name to Another Round to avoid confusion with the Professional Straight No Chaser Group. I have also heard that while they still had the same name as the Pro group that they couldn't compete on shows like "The Sing Off".
These guys seem too young to be Straight No Chaser in 2010, and they don't have a vocal percussionist. Did they keep the name for the group at school, as opposed to the commercial group?
When the founding members of Straight No Chaser got back together (the commercial group), they kept the old name. However, it was still being used by the IU student group. For a while, it was really confusing. People would book the wrong group and everything! In 2012, the IU group changed their name to Another Round, keeping with the alcohol theme and referencing one of their albums. This is the IU group, Another Round, before the name-change.
I am a professional, actually. And this was a slighty pitchy, not well-supported, lower energy performance from them with a dragging tempo. If you're looking at it from a technical perspective. But it doesn't take a performance degree in Voice to be able to speak your opinion. Appreciation for music- especially vocal music- is ingrained in everyone. The Greats weren't so because the lofty snobs liked their stuff- a successful musician connects with everyone.

So, we'll have to agree to disagree on quality. What bothers me the most is that these guys, whoever they are, are trading on SNC's name to get hits on RU-vid. That's called false advertising, bait and switch, and a few not so nice things.
It's not the wrong lyrics. It's just the Phil Collins- 'N Sync version. Before you can even consider yourself a real critic, do your research. This coming from someone who STUDIED to be one.
