Once I read an article saying one of the main reasons why IU isn’t famous in US market is she can’t speak English fluently, GURL she can speaks English with correct grammar and perfect pronunciation ( she really studied hard to improve her English). I think she feels that there’s no need to make effort to break through US market, her music will speak for itself and I think she is very content with where she is at the moment. She is one of the few Asian artists that I feel that she had already proven herself with her music so whether or not she is famous globally wont change the fact that she is very talented as a musician and as an artist tbh
Recently in a variety show one of the mc said he wants iu to receive American award but iu said she doesn't want it because she is happy with what she has got in her own country for her music.
Also, I believe to be known in the U.S. you generally need to perform hip hop, especially rap since these what the market demand !! (I think) looking to the groups that are raising there, I can say that IU style is different. So no need for that honestly. her style is unique, and her songs are not for the audience who enjoy dance performance and hype music more( nothing wrong with that, it's only a preference).

a lot of the comments dont seem to be talking about it but at 13:26 she is singing a classic Chinese song with some dialect mixed into it, her pronunciation were mostly on point too. it's so amazing for her to be good in so many languages

IU's English is so gd! Pronounciation is perfect! For a Korean to be able to speak English like that, she is awesome! I think she can do without a translator... I may not attend this concert, but fortunately I attended her 2019 SG concert and witnessed her speaking Eng and all her LIVE singing that is so soothing to enjoy! I'm a newbie Uaena... I really love her voice and her great personality! Hope to see u in SG again, IU~~~ 💜
My Brother went to her concert and I really get why he really likes her and now I really like her too and I’m now also a fan of her and I love her music a lot as well!Her English is really good in my opinion,and even as someone speaking English since young,I think that English is actually a very difficult language to learn especially if your just starting,and I also find English difficult as I’m only 12 and I feel that English has so many exceptions and rules to learn,I think that when she sang in Chinese,she was pretty good at pronouncing it to be honest,it was quite good and me being Chinese,I understand that Chinese would be something pretty different to pronounce all the words as she is Korean and the pronunciation can be very confusing and different from Korean and English,so I think that IU has really put in a lot of effort in everything,and I really hope that people can stop discriminating how good or bad she is,because it’s really not easy to learn a new language.IU is a really amazing person and I hope that more people out there can respect that.😊I’m also very happy to know that IU had a great time in Singapore,and I hope to also go to concert one day!😁
